6 weeks out, what to eat?

Recommended Posts

I am 6 weeks out of surgery and I already ran out of ideas of what to eat.

I had been eating yogurts, cottage cheese, refried Beans, cheese, scrambled eggs, and Protein Shakes. I don't feel like eating this anymore to the point where I just dont eat and will drink Water instead. What else can I eat when I am hungry!?

What stage are you on? I ask because by week six according to my plan, I will be switching over to regular foods. They have me at 2 weeks Full liquid, 1 week Puree, 2 weeks Soft, then regular after that. So I'm wondering where you're at by 6 weeks.

I follow this girl on TikTok. She seems to have lots of recipes and/or meal prep ideas. Maybe check it out?

I agree you should be trying to incorporate regular foods now. I ate a lot of slow cooked, Soups (lots of meat, Beans & vegetables), casseroles/stew type dishes to begin. Just make sure everything is soft. Don’t be afraid to gently blend or mash it a little if you find the meal a little dense still at first. I found minced meets were very easy to cook & to eat as were sausages from a butcher (higher meat content). I also made omelettes with combinations of spinach, cheese, onion, mushrooms, capsicum. Steamed or poached fish is also good.

It may take a bit of trial & error to see what your tummy will tolerate (it can be pretty fussy). You’ll have lots of left overs but just freeze them in individual portions.

I had a lot of chicken breast. I made sure to bake it so that it was not too dry and then chopped it a bit in the food processor to make sure it was easy to chew. I would season the chicken according to what ever taste was striking my fancy. Italian=Italian seasoning, a few spoons of no-sugar added Pasta Sauce and some mozzerella. Mexican=taco seasoning, cheese and Beans. Chicken=homemade gravy or broth with a tiny bit of instant potato. BBQ=Nashville hot seasoning with no sugar-added Sweet Baby Ray. You get the idea............ It helped me keep my sanity with a variety of tastes, helped get my Protein and incorporate real food.

I like to throw veggies I have on hand - onions, mushrooms, peppers, zucchini into a pan and sauté with salt/pepper. Add in fresh garlic for 1 min. Add in ground beef or turkey. Then crushed Tomato. It is hearty and healthy. And soft :)

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
