I have not been actually hungry since my RNY in December. However, that does not mean that I don't want certain foods especially if they are in front of me or I can smell them. Yes, it is challenging. I doubt that will ever change for me.

I was STARVING. My surgeon said it was because liquids can only satiate your hunger for a little while, they don't stay long in your new small stomach, they pass through quickly and then you're back to being hungry again. It got MUCH better for me on purees. And YES, I had to COOK things my family loves and just grab a couple of SF ice pops &

RETREAT!

Oh, wow. That totally makes sense but I'm sure doesn't make it any easier. That's the rough part-cooking/making tasty things for others while you eat sugar free EVERYTHING.

SOOOO much of it is habit. They're giving us goodies for teacher appreciation week, and for a second each time, I'm like - I'll take one of these, and one of these... Luckily, my brain kicks in before I actually grab anything, but it is SOOO much habit.

I cook for my family and it is a strange mindset to prepare the food and know it smells and probably tastes delicious and I don’t have any.

But @MissyG133 it will be better when you move to purée stage. I was so excited to eat and then whomp whomp whomp could barely eat any! But it was still better than liquids.

So many of us ate out of habit. Whether it was while we were doing certain activities (going to the movies, reading, watching tv, watching live sport, etc.), boredom or other emotions, even the time on the clock (lunch time so got to eat even if I’m really not hungry), or because others were eating. Or we mindlessly ate. How many times would we be eating chips or biscuits or chocolates & be surprised when we reached in the bag only to discover we’d eaten it all without realising it. Lots of learnings ahead about why we ate as we did & how we should eat now.

I wasn’t hungry either. Took more than 18 months for it to come back & then it was slowly & I still have days I’m not really hungry at all. In those first couple of months I wasn’t even interested in eating - lucky one I guess. I had to eat to the clock to make sure I met my goals (ha - habit eating !) I cooked but was quite happy to just eat what I needed. Once you’re on solid food it is easier.

Good luck.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
