Didn’t think I’d ever get this far. My realistic goal was 240 (I’m 6’4” and always justified my fatness as “I’m just a big guy”) but when I hit that I thought 220 would be the bottom. Just hit 199 last week and I think I’m at goal now. Not sure how I can really get into maintenance, calculators are showing my calorie intake needed to maintain are waaaayyy above what I can take in. Short of switching to the m&ms and pop tart diet I think I’ll still keep losing which is now a little concerning. Went from barely squeezing into 44 pants to a loose 36, BMI is considered healthy. I feel great and I’m SOOOO close to being able to do literally the first pull-up of my life. Need to log in via laptop and change my username now :) sorry to gloat I just feel good and can’t get too excited at home because my wife has not been successful with gsv despite strictly adhering to the program and she’s bummed about it pretty hard (quite understandably so)

Congrats Matty! I have also achieved a weight that I feel good to maintain my body with. I have been adding more Snacks to my day so that I eat more calories. At this point I am eating 3 meals and 3 snacks a day to slow down the weight loss. So far it has been working and I have had some fluctuations but am staying within a small weight range.

I haven’t got there yet but people say to add calories but not volume. Adding higher calories yet still healthy foods such as nuts and avacados (maybe the vets can give you more suggestions) will put you into maintenance without stretching your stomach...Or adding a couple healthy Snacks like mswillis5 suggested...Just don’t eat bigger meals.

Congratulations!!

Transition from weight loss mode to maintenance can be a bit of a trial and error. From what I read around here, everyone pretty much figures it out more or less within a few months...and no one (i think) has inadvertently shrunk themselves into low-weighted danger zones in the process.

Congrats again!! Yay you!

P.S. Nuts, nut butters, full-fat everything, avocados, olive oil, and yep, chicharron were my friends during those early months of maintenance (low volume, high calories, relatively nutritious). Acutally they are still my friends to this day.

P.P.S. That's very thoughtful of you to think about your wife's feelings as you Celebrate low-key-ly. At the same time, you did just achieve something awesome, so don't feel too bad about feeling good ❤️ Whooo-hooo 🎉

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
