Today’s makes 3 weeks for surgery for me. I’m miserable. I can’t keep soft foods down at all...vomiting at least 3 times a day. Even Water causes a stomach pain and yes I’m sipping. I went to the ER last week and they found nothing on the CAT scan that was abnormal and they gave me fluids. But it’s still the same pain when drinking. Any advice would be helpful.

Contact your surgeon or their office. They are the only ones who know what you've been through. I had some gastritis over the weekend and my surgeon called to talk to me on Saturday. I think it's safer to speak with someone who knows about Bariatric Surgery and the recovery.

yes - call your clinic - they may want to scope you to see what's going on. Could be something like a stricture - but it's hard to tell without scoping you

I had this too. It sucked but I think it was just my body healing and adjusting. It went away after a couple of months. Hang in there.

I’m glad you called. Keep us updated when you feel up to it.

if it turns out to be a stricture, it's an easy and painless fix. They'll stretch it out while they're scoping you - you'll be out of it, so you won't feel anything. And you'll feel about 100% better afterwards (been there - I had one at 4 weeks out and another at 8 weeks out)

No strictures, obstructions or ulcers. They did say my stomach was inflamed a bit. They prescribed new nausea meds. I vomited this morning again but think maybe I need to wait a full hour before drinking after eating cause I felt fine before I took a sip of Water.

They told me I had gastritis (inflammation of the stomach lining) just before I was 4 weeks out. It was super painful - a sharp pain up by my breastbone and would radiate to my back. Nothing made it worse or better, it would come and go randomly.

So if this is what you have, are you on any antacids or PPIs? I was put on Pepcid immediately after surgery and then they ended up prescribing me Protonix (PPI) for the inflammation and the pain was gone within 2 days.

Be careful with Protonix; long-term use can cause bone marrow failure, leading to leukemia. We found that out the hard way with my mother.

actually, I think all PPI's can have some pretty scary side effects if taken long term (a few months, like after stomach surgery, is fine - but some people are on them for years and years. They used to think they were safe for long term use, but they've discovered just in the last few years (maybe four or five years? I can't remember) that they're really not.

I was only prescribed Protonix for a month due to the gastritis.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
