Hi. I’m new to this app/forum. I’m having a gastric sleeve tomorrow (May 3) in Syracuse, NY. I was originally scheduled in Dec, but COVID stopped that. Now that the day is really here I’m starting to get nervous about it. The only ones I have told are my 2 kids, my sister, 2 close friends at work & of course my boss.

I am having my surgery tomorrow, too! Only my husband knows that I am having surgery. I told my adult children that I am having a hernia repaired—they would not understand why I elected to have weightloss surgery. My 28 year old daughter is a fitness and health nut, and she thinks all I need to do is eat better and exercise (like I haven’t been doing that for the past 10 years). I will tell them the truth post-surgery—I just need to do this for me without their judgement! I am both excited and nervous! I am more nervous about what life will be like post-surgery more than I am for the surgery! In any case—we’ve got this! Good Luck tomorrow—I will send you positive thoughts from my pre-op room in TN! 🥰

Good luck to you too!! My 22yr old daughter was the same way, but she now understands & is very supportive. I’ll be 59 next month & single, so I’m lucky to have her on my side. I was started on a diet by my pediatrician when I was 11yrs old & have struggled also with the weight yo-yo made worse by my thyroid & hysterectomy. Thanks for responding! Nice to know I’m not alone. ☺️

I’m scheduled for May 19th in Utah. Super excited for all of us and starting the pre op liquid diet tomorrow. I’m a single mom of two and I’m worried of being on the liquid diet while making sure my boys are taken care of! I get hangry.

Good luck hun, mines May 19 also in NYC, we got this🙌🏻🎉

Hey all, My date is coming up here soon at the end of May. But I’m wondering, I was told I had to get a CPap By one of the ladies that worked at the hospital and be on it for six weeks before surgery. But then another lady from the hospital called and scheduled me for surgery. I don’t have a CPAP, my insurance wouldn’t approve it and the Doctor Who originally wrote the order was too lazy to fix the mistake. So I’m curious will they really turn me away on my surgery day just because I don’t have a CPAP? Really I never needed one in the first place. Have any of you heard of someone being turned away because they don’t have a CPAP with them?

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
