Thank you so much for all the advice..I’m definitely going to look into it today when I go shopping for more stuff.

Absolutely! About one week into the liquid diet.. it’s still hard, but not as impossible as the first four days were.

i tried Muscle Milk 100 calorie shakes. I was excited since I could have three instead of two... until I tasted it. The taste an lingering aftertaste were just gross. Two dips into it, I decided it wasn’t worth it.

I tracked down the highly touted Farlife Nutrition Plan shakes on sale now at costco. These are the best. They’re not as sweet as the Premier Protein which I was told may be preferable post surgery. It tastes like chocolate milk. Sending my husband back today and a couple other days this week to get the limit of four items. At $5 off, they were a steal.

broth had been my saving grace. On my Quest to find more flavors, I came across Good and Gather Soup Starters, I tried the Ramen and it had a ton of flavor. Excited to track down the other flavors we took a field trip from the DC area all the way to Baltimore suburbs to track down the Tuscan and Tortilla varieties of the chicken broth. It was worth the drive!!! I tried the Tuscan last night and it had so much flavor I felt like I had actually eaten a meal! I sent an email to the nutritionist to confirm on Monday that it’s fine to continue with. It’s a clear broth, I just felt guilty having something with so much flavor. The Mexican one is 5 calories. Best of luck to you! You’ve got this!!!

Yes, the good and gather ramen starter has so much flavor! Plain broth desperately needs seasoning, so I've been buying lots of different flavors of ramen noodles. I use the flavor packet and throw the noodles away.

Do you know if the ramen starter is allowed pre-op as a clear liquid? If so, I’ll have more. I also bought the Good & Gather pho starter, but haven’t tried it yet. I had a different brand of Pho broth and wasn’t a fan. Good idea with using ramen flavor packets!

I don’t see why it wouldn’t be because all it is is broth with different seasonings.

Hey everyone my liquid diet starts March 16th please let me know what worked for You guys

Hey Jennie4315- I'm on day 12 of my 14 day pre-op liquid diet. I probably overdid it with shopping before hand, but I know myself enough to know I would get bored & it's good to have choices!

Who knows what our tastebuds will like after surgery, but here are the things that have worked for me pre-op. (My program includes 2 Protein Shakes a day, unlimited Clear Liquids including sugar-free/decaf things like herbal tea and gatorade zero, and popsicles.

Things I bought and have enjoyed:

  • Simply Asia Soy Ginger chicken broth
  • Miso paste to make miso broth
  • All the Better than bouillon flavors esp. the sautéed onion & veggie ones. These are concentrates you add Water to, and they have more depth of flavor to me than the boxed broths. I like that you can easily make them stronger or weaker by adjusting how much you add.
  • Ginger lemon tea, Mint Tea, Lavender Mint tea
  • Isopure infusions Tropical Punch (mix it up and let it sit a bit to get rid of the froth)
  • Lemonade Crystal light (good mixed into the tropical punch for a change of pace)
  • Protein20 infused water Harvest Grape (also tried the mixed berry but didn't like it as well)
  • Gatorade Zero
  • Isopure Zero Carb Protein (unflavored) Have added it to broth & smoothies with good results
  • Pre-Made shakes Premier Protein chocolate (really good added to Decaf iced coffee which helps thin it out)
  • Levels Pure Chocolate Protein Powder (I like that it has minimal ingredients, (5?) all recognizable and is less sweet than others)
  • sugar free popsicles just having something to sort of chew is fantastic!
  • Decaf Starbucks Via instant coffee packets- to add to chocolate shakes for a change of pace. Really yummy with ice & blended, sort of like a mocha milkshake.
  • Insulated Blender Bottle (got mine on Amazon) works great for mixing up things like the tropical punch and then I let it sit in the fridge to settle down and it stays cold for a long time once I drink it.

Things I bought that didn't work for me:

  • Fairlife Chocolate pre-made shakes (weird aftertaste to me, but I like the consistency- not sure if it's a bad batch?)
  • Chicken Bone Broths (tried Pacific foods, Swanson, Kirkland) Not my favorite, I have to add things to them to get them down.
  • Jello cups. They are good, but haven't satisfied the "ooh I feel like I'm actually eating something" wish.

Hope this helps a bit, you've got this! Good luck with your liquids & surgery.

Day 2 of my liquid diet.. and it’s definitely hard. Probably one of the hardest things I ever done. However I can tell it gets easier as today was easier then yesterday.

The first three days were miserable for me. I’m on day ten now. It gets easier. I live on Good and Gather Soup Starters broth from Target. It’s been a lifesaver for me. Two Protein Shakes, clear sweet sugar free liquids, and broth with no taste weren’t cutting it.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
