Eating slowly

Recommended Posts

Is much tougher than I imagined. 1/3 cup over 20 min is not easy for me. Lol. food is cold in 5 min. Just sayin'

I have a super hard time with it as well... used to eat my food in like 2 min flat because of my former career (nail tech... I'd eat between clients real quick). Max I can ever go is about 15 😕 I just do that and call it good.

Me too! I hope I'm not hurting my stomach! I cannot make this tiny bit of food last longer than 10-15 minutes!

I set a timer for every 30 seconds. I take a bite and try to chew for 30 seconds, then wait another 30 seconds to take the next bite (so 1 minute between bites). I also use a tiny fork or spoon to eat. I cover my food between bites to keep it warm and often reheat the food halfway through the meal.

That will pass for the first 6-8 Months was difficult but now I have noticed can eat alot faster. Pick at food instead of sitting down - I bought a food lamp and just let the family eat and I keep mine under a lamp picking at it.

The hardest thing I have had to learn is to only get out what I can eat and that it's OK to stop when I'm full. My dog has been enjoying this time because she knows that it is a good chance she'll get to eat half my meal every time I get out food.

I eat too fast but thankfully still very little, but I don't think I make it last 20 minutes except for a Protein Shake which I can make last an hour. I like my food hot, so I want to eat it while it's still hot.

I think my dog has put on 10 pounds and I know she has become a horrible beggar! (Only with me, thank goodness!) When I get full, I need the food gone or I will continue to pick at it until I am uncomfortable...and I don't want that, ever!

I've read of some people using a mini crock pot, or a mug warmer, or insulated bowls to keep their food warmer, longer.

In the early days it took me 1.5 HOURS to eat. I just got used to eating cold food. Nowadays I'm even perfectly fine eating leftovers straight out of the fridge. I think one could get used to anything if they do it long enough?

I still eat fast so it's important that I measure/weight my food and when it's gone (in 10 minutes) no more.

I still eat slowly. 20 mins is a quick meal, 40 mins is common & I’ll take more than an hour to eat others. I’m a believer in putting your cutlery down between bites & waiting - sometimes for a couple of minutes. As I also ask myself do I need the next bite or do I just want it.

If I eat too quickly or feel pressured to eat more quickly (like by hovering wait staff) I get tightness & I can’t eat more even I need to.

I’m used to eating cold food now too. Or I’ll just pop my plate in the microwave to reheat it.

I grew up the youngest in a large family so I was trained to eat fast from birth! I still eat faster than I should, but I’m meticulous about keeping only the amount of food on my plate I should be eating. I feel like training myself to eat slower is more of a struggle than eating smaller amounts. Sigh.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
