Christmas Worry

Recommended Posts

My surgery schedule for Dec 17th, a week before Christmas. I know I’ll be on nothing but liquids during this stage, and I’m really hoping I can be satisfied with my fluids only. Any tricks on avoiding desires/temptations during the holidays?

I had my surgery on 12/18 last year. The holidays were a breeze b/c I wasn't hungry at all. I felt full after drinking 2 ounces of Water, so there was nothing tempting about holiday food or sweets.

I didn't tell anyone about my surgery (other than my husband), so when I was with extended family on Christmas Eve, I just told my mom I had a sinus infection and headache, in case she wondered why I wasn't eating anything.

I really feel like having my surgery right before the holidays was perfect timing for me, plus I had the extra time off work to recover.

That’s why I am so happy I got scheduled before the holidays, because it meant I could have extra time off. I just spoke to my mom and she said she will freeze some of the fish from Xmas eve so i can enjoy it when I can eat solids again. She’s a sweet angel

You won't feel hungry, so you won't be tempted by holiday fare. That's GOOD NEWS! Stay hydrated and if you do any socializing, take a Protein Drink with you to have to sip on.

That’s a good idea! Bring the Protein shake... I can’t wait for it to happen lol

Just tough through it, and look forward to next year. Thats how I handled Thanksgiving. It was tough, AND, I had to carve the turkey. I then returned to my pumpkin pie flavored Protein Shake. Lol.

Maybe just try to turn some food into liquid so that you don't feel so offended?

In general, I sympathize with you

How can I turn seafood into liquid? Haha... maybe I’ll drink salty Water lol.

I just finished making homemade broth and put it in the freezer, shall be a delicious broth for Xmas dinner.

A pumpkin Protein Shake does sound delicious though! I keep telling myself I’m not really missing out, because it’s the same thing every year and I can get it again next year

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
