1 week post surgery and I haven’t lost any weight?

Recommended Posts

I had surgery last Monday and have followed the post surgical diet to the T ... I’ve also been walking everyday, keeping up with my 12 month old baby, and working full time ... and I’ve lost NO weight. It’s beyond frustrating to see the scale not budge!

You probably still have a lot of fluids in you from your surgery. It took about 10 days or so lose that Fluid for me.

yep - I'd suspect the IV fluids. Some people gain up to 10 lbs on those, and it can take a week to ten days for them to work their way out of your system

Surgery day I was 212. I left the hospital weighing 234 which was 4 days later. At my week post op I still weighed 215.

Fluids and swelling will do that. It happens. I know it’s hard but try and stay off the scale for the first month or so.

Oh gosh! I know how frustrating this is. I gained after surgery too. I agree with other posters that this is due to IV fluids. I think I lost the Water weight and a few more pounds at week two. Hang in there. None of my business, but it seems you are doing way to much for being a week out. Cudos to you that you are able to work so hard just being a week-out of surgery, you must not be old like me. LOL!!!

Keep up the good work!

@Leafy not losing weight is more common than you think here is yet another post about it. @wakeupmaggie seems to be common

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
