Good afternoon,

I wanted to see if anyone's heartburn got BETTER after Modified Duodenal Switch.

Please and thank you. My physician seems to think it will help me as the food will not be in the stomach for very long.

I'd be curious to hear this as well. They usually recommend an RNY for people with heartburn, but I'm not familiar with the modified version of the DS.

It is simply a DS that brings up the connection higher on the small intestine so that you can absorb more nutrients

OK thanks. Although since you'll still have a sleeved stomach, I'm not sure how that's going to improve the heartburn situation. There's something about the shape of the sleeve and the pressure it causes that supposedly causes the heartburn (well, in some people, anyway)

I don't have the sleeve. I had a gastric bypass that had to be reversed so I have normal anatomy now and terrible acid reflux

I see. Although a sleeved stomach is part of a DS, and sleeved stomachs can often make heartburn worse. Although this doctor would obviously know a lot more than I do about this. Either way, I hope this works for you. Heartburn is AWFUL!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
