I'm 6 weeks post-op with a gastric sleeve. I see people mentioning frozen bananas on here. I froze some today but I don't know how you all use them. In a shake done with a blender?

Thanks

Grace

Hi @IAmGrace!

I love frozen banana! It was something that was suggested to me by my nutritionist. I do the following two things with frozen bananas:

1. smoothies - As you guessed they are great for smoothies. Ill freeze them once they reach my desired ripeness and when I need a quick Breakfast I'll make a smoothie with frozen strawberries, a Fairlife Protein Shake, and a frozen banana.

2. Dessert - My nutritionist suggested the frozen bananas when I mentioned I was looking for something to satisfy my sweet tooth. She said to try out frozen chocolate covered bananas. At Trader Joes they sell frozen chocolate covered banana slices and at my local grocery store they sell the brand "Diana's bananas" in milk and dark chocolate. They are half sized on a stick and are 100 calories. Definitely much better than eating ice cream or other treats. Oh and if you cant find them at the store they are super easy to make. They taste great naked too!

they lose their texture in the freezer (but not their taste), so they're really best in something like a smoothie or a Protein Shake that you stick in the blender, as others have mentioned.

I love frozen bananas. Blended up, they taste just like ice cream. My kids love them too!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
