The esults of the biopsy during the scope last Friday showed there are a few h. pylori critters nesting in my stomach (“several” specifically). ☹️ I have not had any GI symptoms other than some minor increased gas in the last several weeks and there were no ulcers found.

I would love to know your experience if you had the same happen to you. My Gastro ordered the 3 usual meds - amoxicillin, claritbromycin, and Protonix (although I do not yet know how many days it’s for, it could be 7, 10, or 14).

1. How many days were you prescribed the medications?

2. Did they get rid of the bacteria?

3. Did you feel rotten or was it not that big a deal?

4. How did your Bariatric surgeon react/or what did he/she say about it?

5. Did it delay your surgery? Were you required to retest?

i would so appreciate any info you can offer. I have been busting my butt to get everything done as fast as I could because some travel pre-paid may put me in a surgical squeeze play! But now I am worried this bacteria will slow me down ( I was told that they could fast track me once I got 3 dietician visits (weight loss) completed, the scope / biopsy done, and the psych evaluation (the last two are now complete).

THANKS 🤗

I had h pylori during testing. I had 2 meds that I took for 10 days. Didnt seem like a big deal to anyone. I didnt feel rotten but experienced months of dirrarhea after though.

I'm assuming the bacteria is gone but they never retested for it.

Thanks for sharing! We are due to travel during that time for me so I am worried it will ruin the event for me! 😕

I tested positive on the breath test for h. pylori. I was prescribed PANTOPRAZOLE 40 MG, AMOXICILLIN 500 MG, and CLARITHROMYCIN 500 MG for 14 days. My program staff were very laid back about it. I did have to retest by stool sample following my medication, and that test was negative.

I did not have any problems or symptoms connected to h. pylori or the medications.

I tested positive after surgery (removed stomach was tested) in Mid March, bariatric surgeon wanted me to wait a little while before starting treatment. I started today - seven days (twice a day am and pm) of 2 x amoxil 500mg, 1 nexium 20mg and 1 x klacid 500mg.

This topic was posted several months ago, but this is relevant to what I'm going through right now.

H. Pylori was found in my stool test. I'm currently on day 7 of my 14-day regimen.

  • Metronidazole 500 mg twice a day

  • Amoxicillin 500 mg twice a day

  • Clarithromycin 500 mg twice a day

  • Omeprazole 20.6 mgdr twice a day

    • Optional, but recommended by my pharmacist - a probiotic mid-day for the 14 days plus an additional 14 days after I finish all the medication listed above 😕

I don't see any responses in this thread as to whether the H. Pylori held you back from surgery. @AlwaysCruising , @Xx1jpt5xx (and anyone else) did this end up pushing your surgery date back? Thank you :)

It doesn't hold you back if caught in time. I did 2 weeks of antibiotics and then started my 2 week liquid diet. Surgery is on Monday 11/16. Mine was caught at the perfect time.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
