Newly banded - how do you know if you have drank too much?

Recommended Posts

How can you tell if you have restriction or not. Today I had a whole serving of pureed carrot/ginger Soup and was fine. I feel like I could eat anything. But after I eat or drink I am still getting that sharp pain in my left shoulder that I have to relieve with a burp. What is that?

Pain in the shoulder is most likely gas that is trapped. Many of us had trapped gas for a few weeks after surgery. I did for 3 weeks

Restriction is not really until you have been filled but some have been fortunate enough to have restriction with out ever having a fill or only having 1-2 fills while some have to have multiple fills to feel restriction

liquids will not restrict you they go right through the band ..it is solid foods that will give you restriction so once you start eating mushy's or solids you may feel a big difference. Good Luck :D

Hi Lauren,

Michelle is right, its gas causing the pain in your shoulder. Its very normal, most of us have had it.

Try walking around - as much as you can tolerate. You can actually FEEL those little gas bubbles traveling while you walking.

Good luck, and WELCOME to Bandland!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
