Feeling Discouraged PreOp

Recommended Posts

So I’m still a few months out from surgery (hopefully first week in May) and I’m feeling a little discouraged. I’m so excited and ready for the next part of my life to begin but knowing it’s still months away is a little disheartening. How is everyone else that’s still preop dealing with these feelings?

Hang in there! It will come sooner than you think. I had to wait three months and it passed with frightening speed!

Come here often to learn all you can. It's not as scary if you know what to expect. You got this!

Many of us had to do 6 months, use the time wisely to read, get your head straight, get your food choices better, drinking Water daily - no soda, walking daily. Start journaling food and feelings - especially when you use food for comfort... it goes faster than you think.

I am a month out but I can relate and what someone else said is SO TRUE - it will FLY. Do not let it get you down, the changes that will happen are so big and take this time to prepare - get used to sipping Water all day, meditate, journal, I highly recommend at least a couple counseling appts (bring partner if you're married/involved, etc as this will affect them too!) before and after your surgery. Be talking to people in your life who are supportive of your journey! BEst of luck!

This is the time to let go of behaviors and foods that will be even more difficult in recovery. The best thing I ever did preop was to get rid of sugar, caffeine, processed food, and soda. I did not have to go through sugar and caffeine withdrawal while I was healing. Recovery is hard enough without sugar cravings and caffeine headaches. :)

Get a headstart; start making changes; lower your carbs.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
