What do you do to get back on track?

Recommended Posts

I remember why I did the surgery in the first place. I weight everyday. I track everything I put in my mouth. I exercise. I'm getting back on track too after a brief hiatus and 3 lb weight gain.

Watch some motivational YouTubes, read a new book on weight loss (Bariatric Mindset Success by Kristin Lloyd is a good place to start for making changes in the mental department, and for finding motivation). Get moving! Set some small exercise goals for just this week and get going. Make out a menu for the week, buy the food, and prep it.

Set a goal with a time limit and that is measurable; run a 5k or fit into my size ___ again by March 1st, or track everything I eat for 3 months, etc

Thanks for the suggestions. Reading a book to get back in that mindset sounds like a great place to start. I really feel like I can’t remember how to eat right. All your suggestions are so helpful. Thank you!

Keep a daily log of weight, food I eat, calories and Protein to constantly remind myself of why I started this journey. And if I forget slap myself, take mental note of it and remind myself it’s not worth it. But also remind myself letting loose a little once in a while is ok as long as it’s within certain rules I set (getting my daily protein, Vitamins and not breaking my maximum calories)

I know it’s hard. To add to the book suggestion. Look for the book on audible audio book and listen to it while you take a walk. Also if you can try to just go on a quiet walk somewhere to clear your head and think about why you had bariatric surgery and how to get back into the groove again ...

And thankfully you have a lot of support here too.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
