NYE 2019 surgery date twin?

Recommended Posts

Glad to hear that....💜

I’m pretty sad..I had the lapband removed this morning.
Surgeon said the gastric bypass surgery was not able to be done due to scar tissue...I’ll have to wait 3-6 months for that..🤨😢😢😢😢😢

Grateful for his decision....It sounds like that could of been too complicated and I want no complications obviously..keep us posted on your journey....🙏🏼❤️
Happy New Year!

Very, very bad night. Felt like someone was holding a propane torch right up against my lower left front rib. The nurse gave me liquid hydrocodone and it didn't phase the pain. So next he gave some morphine to me with no relief. Last 2 hrs later he gave me Dilotid and Regilan or something like that, wow worked like charm.

No, I'm not sleeping with the snoring beauty and her even louder snoring little piglet of a dog! I came out to the living room that is around 35 ft from the bed and still here both of them. I think the piglet has sleep apnea and needs a CPAP. Otherwise it's a very common theme around here. I'm going to turn on the radio and listen to some 70s music excluding disco ( sorry fans) and hopefully fall asleep watching the flames dance in the wood stove. Thank you for the concern. P.S. with how the beauty is rip roaring back there I would think the music can get pretty loud with no problems. Fleetwood Mac Rianna playing right now. NICE!

Okay, I'm lmaooooo literally at piglet needing a cpap. Check in with us when you feel up to it after surgery and you will be the sleeping King thanks to your meds!!! Enjoy your 70's grooves.

Steve, so sorry for your pain. I hope it has passed now.

Cutebutcrzy - congrats! I hope you are still feeling well.

LovingLV, I had my band out in August and my surgeon told me going in he would only do it in two surgeries. Even with the delay my bypass took an extra hour as he had to clean up some scar tissue so waiting is probably for the best.

brooksbrittanyanne: congrats! I hope you are feeling well a couple days after your surgery! Feel free to chime in here and share you story with us!

Overall my pain has been pretty minimal. I took a small dose of hydrocodone 2 time in the hospital, but the rest of the time I was OK with just Tylenol. I did try to walk every couple of hours.

Now that I am home I am definitely feeling the bloat and some related pain. I've got an ice pack on and took a hydocodone which isn't doing much. I'll walk around the house some more to see if that helps it move quicker.

My biggest challenge is I didn't sleep much in the hospital - just too much noise and movement. I'm hoping I'm able to sleep tonight.

I'm happy to be home but definitely feel more bloated/gas pain since I left the hospital. Sigh, isn't that always how things happen. I was pretty lucky with pain I took the liquid hydrocodone 3x in the hospital and for me it worked well. The norco pills they gave me from home don't seem to be helping as much (maybe my stomach isn't breaking them down enough) Now I'm chilling with an ice pack in my recliner trying to decide if I'm staying here for the night or if I'm going to try my bed. I'm super tired after only getting a few minutes sleep at a time off and on in the hospital.
Congrats to everyone on a great start to a new year. New Year = New Us!

Hi Friends, my surgery went well and I’m home and in a lot of pain. I had to come home with a drainage bag. It’s awful and luckily I have a good husband to help me because I can’t even look at it. Happy New Year.

Hey, I’m feeling well for the most part. I wake up feeling fine, but by like 2 or so I need a nap and some pain medication. What does concern me though is i know i am not getting my Protein or hydration goals, but i just honestly can’t shove ghat much in my mouth throughout the day!

It would be a lot easier though if everyone else in my house didn’t snore like they were giants! Trying to sleep is rough. This morning at 2 am i woke up to my boyfriend snoring so loud that even the tv on 30 couldn’t drown it out. An hour later the four and nine year old snuck into the bed, both snoring, and at some point our snoring chihuahua also snuck into the bed. At what point in the relationship is it too early to start sleeping in different beds?! Lol

Hope everyone is doing well this morning. Steve, hope your pain is much improved!

I'm doing pretty well today. I got some decent sleep and have been sipping fluids and had some greek yogurt for Breakfast. I needed a couple tylenol this am - I was a little worried since they sent me home with pills but so far so good.

Greek yogurt never tasted so good when liquid is your food option, I'm sure. So yummy 😊 or do you want me to hush already, lol. I'm glad you are posting updates, worried about Steve. Hydrate and rest , try to walk in the house if you can today and check back in when you are feeling up to it.

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.

Some days I feel like an infiltrator... I'm participating in society as a "thin" person. They have no idea that I haven't always been one of them! 🤣

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!
