Anyone have thyroid issues?

Recommended Posts

I have hypothyroid and on my pre-op labs my tsh was elevated. My Pcp is on maternity leave and her replacement isn't familiar with the medication I take so wants to wait 6 weeks and retest before making any changes. My surgery is scheduled for next week and I'm concerned that I'll miss the initial weight loss if my thyroid levels are low.

Is there anyone who's had experience with this type of situation?

I am on thyroid meds but haven’t had any issues with them. Have you asked your surgeon about this? He should be a good source of info as to whether this will slow your initial weight loss down.

Good luck!

My shoulders always hurt when my tsh levels are off. Thank goodness for thyroid meds!! My meds had to be adjusted right before surgery. I’m still losing weight.

Thank you, thank you! I did not know about this and my shoulders/hips have been in soooo much pain! I had half of my thyroid removed mid-October and maybe that is the reason. They checked hormone levels the week after surgery, but not since then.

Sorry about jacking the thread!

How elevated is your TSH? What medication are you taking? I have been both hypo and hyper, finally had half of my thyroid out in Oct. of 2010 and have not had an issue since. I would check with your surgeons and get his/her opinion.

My TSH is 7.4, I take Armour Thyroid which is natural dessicated thyroid vs synthetic T4. I really like it better than Synthroid but a lot of doctors don't like prescribing it. I left a message for my surgeon so I'll see what happens.

My tsh was 9.8 I think and I take levothroxazine....don’t know If I’m spelling that right. So my levo was upped.

The Dr I work for doesn't like Amour either an I think it is because she doesn't work with it that often. I see my Endo in May looking forward to seeing if my levels have changed. Good luck!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
