October Surgery Roll Call

Recommended Posts

Sarah I have what I describe as the discomfort from having an abdominal surgery. I had a laparoscopic hysterectomy in the summer and it felt just like this. Sort of a weird bloated “heavy” feeling, especially upon standing after sitting. No sharp pains and I’ve been very careful not to irritate the incision sites.

I had mine on the 29th. Today is the first day I’m not feeling any pain. Maybe discomfort. I have only had 2 tylonal today.

Hi Sarah, I had surgery on the 25th. The nurse in the hospital gave me an ice pack across my incisions and it helped immensely, especially with the swelling. I only removed it when I'd go for a stroll. I used it at home for a couple days until my abdomen returned to almost normal. Walking really helps with the pain, which can be a combination of gas and surgery pain. I found that warm mint tea (no sugar) helped with the gas also. Welcome to the other side. We got this!

Thanks! I will try the ice. I am walking as much as I am able. My follow-up is this coming Wednesday.

What I'm feeling is very sharp pain on the left side, I go to the Dr on Wednesday for my follow-up. My whole abdomen is bruised and painful.

Had mine 10/28 and, oh yes, the pain is real. It’s not gas, it’s the incision where the stomach comes out. I just got my abdominal binder wrap thing. I’m praying it works. Today I have been using my pain meds because I can’t. I wanted to go back to work in a week (so, Monday), but I don’t know if I can. I’m ready to feel human.

I had to reschedule my surgery to Nov.12th so now I'm doing this starvation diet again! 2nd time in a row and I'm tired of this hopefully they put me to sleep fast for surgery so I don't have to be hungry anymore.

I had mine on the 31st! I was doing great with lots of energy and no problems getting my liquids down and no pain, but the last couple days I have had lower energy and pain in my stomach, kinda like cramping. Hopefully if I get more Protein I’ll be back to normal soon! Hopefully everyone else is doing well!

I’ve lost just over 56 since my surgery in October. I’m feeling great and am super happy about this.

I’m eating most things in very small portions- still focussing on Protein intake and cutting down on carb Intake.

Thinking of you all- good luck for your journeys

I had surgery 10/24 and I'm down 60lbs. I'm doing well and enjoying new adventures. I try to get out of the house on weekends to avoid sitting around and snacking, plus I get extra steps in. I'm still 20lbs from the doctor's goal and 60 from my goal, so I still have a long way to go. But I'm excited to be on this journey! Cheers everyone

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...
