SWEET JESUS MY HAIR!!!!!

Recommended Posts

I just need to tell someone who cares or understands my anguish about going bald my hair is literally coming out in clumps, strands falling out when the wind blows. This is effing devastating. I get 100gms of Protein. I drink 80 oz or more of Water. I take ALL supplements and NEVER miss. And I **** you not I am literally looking at wigs. I can't even breathe.

It is devastating. We don't realize how much our hair affects our self-esteem until it falls out. Mine got really thin, but it was coming in as thick as ever after about 10 months. I took Biotin and L-lysine. (((hug)))

Oh You mean like a cheap aSyag Rug? I heard of obe, when it started to return, the fuzz and regrowth was totally a different shade? That made her look pretty mangy like a ugly old 🐕 dog!!

I'm taking Biotin and using Minoxidil to hopefully stave off any Hair loss.

Yes I've been using minoxidil 5mg twice daily for 2 years! It didn't work

Yeah, the Hair loss sucks. But barring any huge nutritional deficiencies it will come back. Painfully slowly, but it will eventually. I chopped all my hair off in month 3 cuz i was shedding EVERYWHERE. It’s still falling out a bit, but I do notice it’s not in such large quantities anymore, so im hoping the shedding phase is nearing its end and the regrowth will start already!

Hang in there, it will get better eventually.

Yeah I now sport a D.A. had one of these back in the late 50s when I was a young teenager, will it grow into a mullet? We will just have to wait and see, someone yesterday said I looked cute and my hair was curling and waving a lot! Not sure where their keeper was but either their mind or eyesight was fading fast! People in their 70s usually aren't CUTE, I still. am convinced I look like a moulting Bird!🐓🐦🐔

I feel for you and pray you don't lose much more. I thank you for posting on this topic. I am able to use some of the tips given to you. So a thank you to responders.

I'm 5 months out and for the past 2 weeks I've started losing about 2 handfuls of hair. Thank God I have thick hair, but I'm still afraid of losing it all, because the amounts I am losing. I need to get back on track in regards to the Vitamins and eating more Protein.

I’m sorry you are dealing with this. I’ve had difficulty with thinning hair for some time. I started to keep it short because everything pulled my hair out in clumps. Even just to comb it.

I can’t afford to lose hair, mine is like baby hair, very thin strands. I usually keep it extremely short. But then it’s hard going for haircuts.

Post op. I’ve been taking gummy vitamins but I make sure they are Whole Foods Vitamins. Garden of life makes a good Whole Foods women’s multi Vitamin. (There are others as well I might try rainbow light chewable multi vitamin next time) And Natures Way makes a good hair skin and nails Gummy with extra collagen. Even if you can swallow pills gummies or liquid vitamins absorb better. And even better if they are Whole food based. I also take Omega gummies for the EFAs. A b complex. And of course Calcium.

For hair, You need Vitamin A, b complex vitamins too especially Biotin and also collagen. I get my vitamins from vitacost and always get coupons. I haven’t bought bariatric specific vitamins because the multi vitamin all have iodine and I’m allergic. Some basic vitamins like Centrum do nothing and don’t absorb any benefits at all.

I use cleansing conditioner on my hair and a scalp massage brush in the shower. Since a healthy scalp helps healthy hair. I’m not as far along so I don’t know what will happen with my hair. I’m just taking it one moment at a time.

I hope you find the answers you need.

If it makes you feel any better (hopefully), you have really long curly hair (according to your profile pic ♥️), so it probably looks much worse than it really is when you see it in your hand cuz your hair takes up more volume per strand.

It'll get better later!

Keep smiling😜, even though sometimes through 💦tears, it will self- limit, not heard of a single person going bald👴 from weight loss although you might feel a bit mange- ridden for a while!

A moment of respectful silence for all the times we had a perfect hair day and no one seemed to notice.💦😧

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.

Some days I feel like an infiltrator... I'm participating in society as a "thin" person. They have no idea that I haven't always been one of them! 🤣

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!
