My back is killing me

Recommended Posts

I have a bulging disc which is causing extreme pain. I have been sitting on the floor for almost a month and have taken a whole bunch of pain pills. I've had open heart surgery and :confused:it wasn't this bad. I started with hydrocodone but when my doc heard I was taking them every two hours, she gave me Percocet. It knocks me completely out. I have missed a whole lot of work and my next step is to visit a pain doc who will shoot cortisone into my spine. I'm really worried about this. Anyone have any advice or experience?

My grandmother had a similar problem from a car accident I believe. She ended up having back surgery and having a section of her spine fused. I also remember a few years back a news story about new synthetic materials that doctors and surgeons could use to replace individual discs in the spine.

Stop taking the percocet and send this poison to me. I will dispose of it in a safe manner. :)

Green, I've got about a pint of liq. oxicoton that I can't stand to take. (It makes my Alzheimers worse) Do you want to dispose of that for me? :) And bitter, I had that done last year. Nothing to it. I ended up having a fusion in May and that wasn't bad compare to my knee surgery. Sometimes fear is the worst part of procedures.

Yup, that liq oxi should be sent to me. I certainly would not like to see you more confused than you already are. On the other hand, confusion really suits me. :eyebrows:

Hi!

I don't have any personal experience with disc problems, but a woman I work with recently had surgery for that problem. The doctor inserted an artificial disc and she is feeling much better now. Another man I was in a college class with had neck surgery to fuse several vertebrae together because of a neck injury that damaged several discs. I've also heard a few other people talk about having physical therapy to help relieve their back pain.

I think it's worth talking to a specialist instead of suffering if you don't have to! Back pain is no fun!

Hope you feel better soon!

Thanks, folks. My back has suddenly gotten better. I suspect it knew that I as going to have cortisone shot into it and it decided to get better fast. But I have never had such pain. God, it was awful. Green, I'm keeping my Percocet.

All unwanted pain medications must be sent to Denise. It's some sort of law here in Oregon:rolleyes

It sounds like you need back surgery. So do I. I am putting it off as long as I can though. I am going to have disc replacement instead of a fusion though. I have a friend that had it done and said he hasn't felt this good in years.

His recovery was quite easy as well.

My mom was popping pills like mad. One day she sat at the counter and counted them out and she noticed she was taking a lot of vicodin daily. That was the day she called the surgeon for her surgery. She hasn't looked back since.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
