Anyone have experience with needing to be dilated after gastric bypass?

Recommended Posts

I have had the worst time since surgery. I have had a bowel obstruction, and have been told I have narrowing connected to my stomach. I had the dilitation once via endoscopy, but the top of my abdomen hurts. It feels like I have a brick there. I’m petrified to have surgery again, but I think I will need revision surgery. Anyone else have any of these issues??

sorry you're going through that - yikes! I had two strictures that had to be dilated (one at four weeks out and the other at eight weeks out), but no problems after that.

Oh yeah Baby, I am the Queen of All that- June 12th will be either my 12th or 13th lifetime, 10 after my RNY bypass with the strictures and jejunal ulcerations, This should be the last, if it is not at the desirablecstate surgery may be ahead. They have repeatedly dialated, thought at first I was just with an opening that snaps shut but it was more due to the ulcers and swelling present. But it is what it is and will be eventually corrected, in the meantime my weight is decreasing, lost about.110 pounds, give, orbtake since surgery almost 10 months ago to,IT will be 5th of June 10 months. Not the journey I expected or was planning but it's still good and May take me where I need to be.

Yes! I have a stricture and have been dilated 4 times. Once a week for 4 weeks, the most recent was this past Friday. Now we wait 4 weeks before the next one to see how it is healing. I feel so much better now than I did. My surgeon also mentioned redoing the connection, but now I think he won't have to. Pm me if you want, and best wishes to you.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
