Weird Aches and Pains

Recommended Posts

So, I'm 9 weeks out from Gastric Bypass, and I've lost nearly 50 lbs. I can already tell I'm in better shape as I'm able to walk around longer without losing my breath, able to fit in things that were tight on me before, and well, my shirts and work pants are loose.

But I've noticed something else. Sitting in my chair at work starts hurting after a while as it feels like the hard surface is digging into my butt. Also, my back will randomly start aching even though it's carrying less around. My mother, who has also had bypass, said that it's likely the body adjusting to the lower weight and the pain shall pass, but still, it's... odd. You'd think the pain would get less as I started weighing less, not more.

Congrats on your progress! That's awesome!

Both of your concerns seem to be common. As we lose weight and our center of gravity shifts, our body has to adjust. Some people have mentioned that chiropractic treatments or physiotherapy has been helpful. And as to the sore behind... I've heard that focusing on building up your glutes can help with that, so squats are your friends.

the butt thing is very common. It improves for some people over time, but not for everyone. I kept one of those coccyx pillows on my office chair when I worked (I'm retired now) as well as one on my car seat (the car seats don't bother it as much since they're softer, but if I'm driving long distances, then yes, it does....). I don't know if anyone really knows what causes it. Maybe less padding back there - or maybe you have to learn to sit differently now that you've lost a bunch of weight and aren't well-padded everywhere. But I still deal with it - not all the time like before, but sometimes, yes.

The big stomach pulls on your back, and when you lose weight that all shifts around, you sit and walk differently. Some people remark that they are suddenly taller because they are not stooped over and leaning on everything. Hard chairs kill my butt now, way less padding. Get ready, there are many more exciting changes.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
