ANYONE CHEAT ON THEIR PRE OP LIQUID DIET?

Recommended Posts

No, I didn't cheat because I was terrified of having a fatty liver and not being able to go through with the surgery once they went inside of me and saw it. It's only two weeks, you can do it!

I was so scared of still having NASH I voluntarily put myself on a Liver- Shrinking Diet the Entire month of August 2018- and it WORKED. My surgeon only had to make a teeny portal for the liver retractor, it was the first one to heal, it is only visable now because right below my sternum I had no previous stretch marks. My lower abdomen, ah that is another story, I had 3 babies at or approximating 9 pounds in weight, and wouldn't you know, they each choose a slightly different angle to rest in! My perennial joke-My belly looks like the road map to Indianapolis with all the State and County access roads clearly marked. A good benefit to weight loss? They are actually getting narrower with less internal fat pushing them out. But alas, no bikinis, no 2 piece bathing suits, my skin looks like a 10 car pileup on the Beltway!

I didn't because they said strict adherence was required and that failure to comply may result in delaying my surgery. It was hard but I just kept focused on my bigger goal. Every time you want to "cheat", remember you are playing the long-game.

I cheated. Several times. I struggled HARD with the pre-op diet. Mine was one of the liquid only diets where the only "solid" food you get is Jello. I was scared they wouldn't operate because my liver was too fatty or that my difficulty handling the pre-op diet was an indicator of how unsuccessful I would be post-op.

Neither has been true. Surgery was textbook and I've done amazing with my diet post-op. Take your slip up, acknowledge what might have caused it so you can try to prevent it again in the future, and recommit to your diet.

You will need to use those "pick up, move on, and recommit" skills many times throughout your journey. You got this, girl.

Don’t feel bad just like everyone else has said make sure you buckle down now that you have gotten it out the way. I cheated on Mother’s Day and my surgery is Wednesday. I’m sure you will be fine, good luck .

Thank you very much for your kind words, they are appreciated! My diet includes Protein Powder and Water only. How long was your preop diet? I still have 6 days to recommit and not screw this up.

Mine was 2 weeks. I cheated within 5 or 6 days of surgery and then I got scared and buckled down and stuck to it to a T.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
