Drinking water as a teacher

Recommended Posts

I am just 10 days out from having my surgery and I still have so many practical questions for all you bypassers.

I am a teacher and was thinking about the whole "hydration machine" mindset that you have to have. In other words, drinking Water in small sips all during the day. Can I get away with drinking only in between classes or do I need to make sure that I drink during classes as well? What do you all think?

Yeah, I was hoping to figure it out over the summer too, but nothing beats hearing about the experience of others. I've been on a sabbatical studying foreign languages so it's a good time for me to have the surgery...but Im worried about getting back to "real life".

Is there a rule about having drinks out during class? I wouldnt think it would be a big deal. Hydration is so important, I would just do it. I’m a surgery nurse and policies say no drinks in the OR and besides that I’m wearing a mask covering my mouth all day! I almost NEVER hit my hydration goal.

You should be drinking every 15 minutes or so. You don't want to gulp it between classes.

As a chronic Water chugger, I will tell you that while it won't do any harm, taking very large gulps or chugging will be painful. Try to take small sips throughout the day. Can you not have a water bottle on your desk?

Just keep a Water bottle in your desk and sip. Does your school have rules about that? Most teachers in my building have a water bottle, regardless of WLS

I don't know yet if I will be allowed to have a Water bottle or not yet. Im changing jobs to work at a middle school in August and don't know how strict they are with students about that. Since I have a 6 month probation period, I don't exactly want to rock the boat.

As a teacher I always had a water bottle handy in class. No one ever gave it a second look. Now, getting bathroom breaks was a whole different thing! I think I only peed before and after the school day for years and years. Teachers develop an Iron bladder, I think. 😅

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
