I am waiting for my insurance company to approve my gastric sleeve surgery. I do have a question. Does anyone have sagging skin after the weight loss ?

You can Google loose skin after bariatric to get an idea of what best and worst case senerios can look like.

Loose skin is an unkown factor of your weight loss. Age, how long you have been obese and amount of weight lost will be factors.

Plastics are an option. Self pay. Some insurance companies cover if the skin csuses mobility issues or rashes.

I do have loose and sagging skin in certain areas. I gained my weight really fast (100lbs) in a year so I was covered in stretch marks from my knees to my armpits lol. So that skin hasn't recovered as well as other areas. My breasts have lost most of their volume. My belly is sort of apron like and my inner thighs sag. My arms came right back. But here's the thing: I lost the genetic lottery when it comes to skin. I scar from even the littlest scratch. I knew this was going to happen. Everyone is different and you may be one of the lucky ones who snaps back into place. But I tell you a little sagging skin is well worth it! I can DM pics if you're worried :) Dont stress!

Yep. Its different for all of us and I'm sure it comes down to age and genetics. My friend and I were just talking about how I've lost more weight than she did (both by pounds and percentage) and yet I don't seem to have as much sagging skin as she does. It's pure luck on my part.

I think EVERYONE has sagging skin after weight loss, it’s just the degree to which you get it. But clothes cover everything that’s super-evident (thighs/upper arms/abdomen) and if it really bothers you there’s always plastics or other procedures.

For now I’m making do with light Shapewear and elbow-length sleeves. Two years ago at this time, dressing for summer was 100x more complicated because I didn’t show those areas anyhow AND I was trying to manage the form-fitting/layering/air con-to-blistering weather. Now all I have to worry about is do I look good in one of my many medium-sized elbow-length shirts. So much easier. Definitely overrides any loose skin worries.

What will happen will happen. Even if you end up with the least elastic skin ever, you’ll have more options than you do now.

You trade the weight for skin and the skin for scars. It's part of the journey. That being said I am coming to terms with the damage I caused to my body and try to be grateful for all the positives in my life. In the grand scheme of things the skin isn't so bad compared to all the wonderful gifts of losing the weight. Even knowing everything I know after losing 130 pounds I would do it again in a heartbeat, absolutely no doubt. Best thing I ever did for myself, ever. Good luck.

I wear the Spanx spotlight on lace bodysuit ALL THE TIME. Right now I wear a large, I could probably do a medium but I’m not in it for a crazy level of shaping. This tackles any unevenness and prevents Jello-like ripples on heavy steps or when I sit down in a weirdly shaped chair.

Some people get freaked out by the logistics of it being a one piece, but always liked this sort of foundation garment anyhow, so i don’t find it remotely restricting.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
