Diabetic and sleeved

Recommended Posts

Back to this thread to share that one month out from my March 26th sleeve, I was taken off my last Diabetes med and I am in full remission. Yes, I have done great with weight loss and I'm down 3 pant sizes BUT the metabolic benefit was my main goal and I couldn't be happier.

I've also been taken off my BiPap and am told I'll only need an appliance for a short time for my formerly severe sleep apnea.

My BP is around 124/68 and hopefully my BP meds are next to reduce/eliminate.

Things that were trying to kill me are failing because of my sleeve.

That ^ is an amazing sentence to type.

Im type 2 and 2 wks post sleeve. I’ve noticed that the whey Protein spikes my BG so I check it every morning and hope to be off all my meds once I get to my goal weight.

I was sleeved on January 29th. Stopped my meds day before surgery and haven’t had anything since. I run between 80-100 fasting. Primary keeps an eye on it but tells me once a diabetic always a diabetic, just controlled now. Good luck!

Was diabetic for about 8 years and progressively getting worse...ended up on 2 insulins and 2 oral meds and still had fasting sugars of 150-250. Once my A1C was 12!

After VSG 11 months ago, I was immediately taken off all meds except metformin. Fasting sugars were 110-120. Since losing almost 100#, I went off the metformin 6 months ago and my fastings are 95-110. Can't wait to see the next A1C!

The only dispppointment has been that the DPN (diabetic peripheral neuropathy) in my toes and right behind them has not improved...I was really hoping for some relief from the pain and burning when my sugars decreased. But I guess the damage has been done and will not get better. Anyone have DPN reverse?

I was on 2 oral meds & a once a week injection. The day after surgery I called my Endocrinologist to ask about my meds. She immediately took me off the injection & one of my pills. For the past 5 days, my blood sugar has been holding steady. Hopefully I’ll be able to eliminate the other pill!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
