si*******on got a reaction from obxlvr13 in Diabetic and sleevedHi Rima,
I just found this forum. I am 2 weeks post-op and was on 3 oral diabetes meds + insulin prior. A week after surgery my meter was giving me readings between 64 - 89. This worried me as I have never been that low since I was diagnosed. I called my NP manager and she said, don't worry...this is what normal is. She then took me off my only oral I was crushing. It has been a week and I feel tremendous and my post-op appointment with my surgeon was completely positive. My readings are now almost all in the 80's and I intend to keep them there. He said I'm in remission and it could last for years. Eventually I may have to go back to treating diabetes, but he said it would be a very minimal oral med. Because this is the underlying reason I chose surgery with weight loss secondary, I couldn't be happier! (someone cutting onions?)
Best of luck to you with your journey.

si*******on got a reaction from Sunnilicious in March 2019 sleepersCame back for some advice which I found very quickly. This board is such a great resource.
Down 56 from 3/26, Diabetes in full remission and no longer on meds, BP way down, Sleep Apnea pretty much gone.
3 pant sizes so far and 14 pounds to goal.
Not too much skin flab but noticeable muscle loss, along with the fat. Working on this. Also, I live at 9000ft elevation so I can get a bit dizzy.
Well done to all the Marchers!
Just think how very many are inspired by your stories and don't leave a comment. They are out there!

si*******on reacted to smflowers222 in Diabetic and sleevedI was sleeved on January 29th. Stopped my meds day before surgery and haven’t had anything since. I run between 80-100 fasting. Primary keeps an eye on it but tells me once a diabetic always a diabetic, just controlled now. Good luck! -
si*******on reacted to mrblond in Diabetic and sleevedI am 6 weeks out and my sugars are between 90 and 111. totally off any and all meds at the moment.

si*******on reacted to TeeBeau in March 2019 sleepersI've lost 53# since surgery and 94# since beginning the program. I have about 55# to go to goal. Down to a size 16 from a 24. Shopping a lot at Goodwill and the like. Feeling pretty good, but having to closely monitor my blood pressure so they can adequately wean me off BP meds. Have lots of sagging skin on arms, belly and breasts. Have rash under pannus which has been documented by PCP and prescribed nystatin cream. Frequenting the gym 5 days a week. Feeling pretty good overall. Can tolerate most foods I've tried. Peanut butter is a no go. Peanut powder though is ok. In about 2 weeks I'll be at 3 months post op. Time flies.

si*******on reacted to BennyKing in March 2019 sleepersHi Guys,
Just stumbled across this bulletin board, great to see others sharing their experiences and stories so here is mine
Averaging around 130kg for the past 10 years my battles with overeating have caused everything from Type 2 Diabetes to high blood pressure and everything in between. It wasn't about me eating bad food, it was the over indulgence of the food itself. After attempting every diet known to the human race a decision was made to have the sleeve surgery done.
The Surgery was performed by Dr KunzinKovas @ St George Private Hospital in Kogarah NSW, Australia in Early March 2019. The first 3 weeks were in and out of the hospital for various circumstances. I won't lie it was hell for the first month. 16 Weeks after the surgery I weigh in a 95Kg from 120Kg just before Surgery, it has been the best decision of my life.
My Blood sugar levels are now before 5.5, no more high blood pressure, quit smoking 4 months ago. I feel a million dollars and now have the advantage of teaching my body how to eat again without the drug of indulgence in me.

si*******on reacted to othella2 in March 2019 sleepersI had my surgery in March I'm about 8 weeks out. I can start to see the loss. Just wish it was going a little faster. I hope the slow lose means no lose skin.

si*******on reacted to Beautiful3 in March 2019 sleepersI’m 7 weeks out. I’ve lost 49 lbs so far. Can’t eat hardly anything. I’ve been stuck same weight for 3 or 4 days. Beginning to think I need to try and get more calories in since I’m reading it has helped others.

si*******on got a reaction from featherbird007 in March 2019 sleepersJust found this forum. Sleeved March 26th and doing well. Down 30 and excited about the pureed diet.
I'm staying hydrated which has always been a habit since I live at 9000ft altitude. I'm getting in my walking too.
No more diabetes meds/insulin. That was my biggest goal and this has me over the moon!
Slightly concerned about remaining food cravings, but I'm doing pretty good trying to ignore them.
Me <---- Blessed

si*******on reacted to MrsGamgee in Diabetic and sleevedUntil recently I was on three oral meds for my type 2 diabetes (low doses of metformin and gliclizide, and 25mg of jardiance daily). Last week I was able to discontinue the gliclizide because my A1C is at 7 and I was having regular lows. I'm hopeful that after surgery I'll be able to kick the others to the curb as well.

si*******on reacted to KT1981 in Diabetic and sleevedI was on 1000mg of metformin 2x per day and around 40 units of insulin and still had an a1c above 7. I went home after surgery on no meds. At my 3 month checkup my a1c was 5.1. I just had a health screening at work the other day (now almost 6 months post-op) and my fasting blood sugar was normal. It feels great to be on this side of diabetes!

si*******on reacted to Jobber in Feeing hungry, post op week2I was sleeved about 2 1/2 weeks ago and I'm a week into the pureed stage. I have a lot of times what I think is hunger, but it's the dreaded head hunger. My stomach will ache like it's hunger, but I'm sure it's still healing or dealing with the changes I'm giving it.
I'm learning to be very careful because even this early on, I'm still finding "slider" foods that are not filling me up. Just yesterday I pureed a can of New England clam chowder and ate the whole 2 cups of it. Since the potatoes and clams are not on my diet yet I felt it necessary to Ninja them up. Instead of the normal 100 calories or so that I'm getting with most pureed meat and veggies, I just got 400 in one sitting since I didn't get full. Other sliders for me have been yogurt, popsicles, and protein shakes.
I'm doing good with the purees, though, since I spent a lot of my first week running veggies, fruits and lean meats through the ninja and then used a food saver and froze them all flat. Works well and very healthy. Just have to be careful with other stuff, I'm finding.
Good luck to you
