Fasting during Ramadan post gastric sleeve

Recommended Posts

Good day fellow sleevers! I was hoping to reach out to some of my fellow Muslim sleevers about how they fasted during the holy month of Ramadan after having a gastric sleeve. I had my surgery scheduled right after Ramadan last year to ensure I could fast and then begin this journey. I will be 11 months post op when Ramadan begins this year around the beginning of May. My question is for those who have fasted after having the sleeve and being about one year out, how were you able to cope with the dehydration if any? Since we can’t drink and eat at the same time how did you break fast? Did you drink Water first then wait 30 minutes and then eat? Did you find it difficult getting in your nutrition? Did it help or hurt your weight loss by the end of the month?

Any advice or experiences on this would be highly appreciated. I thank you all in advance.

Hello!! I was just going to post about this! This will be my first time fasting as I am 9mo post op and I really don’t know how it’s going to work. I have a ton of restriction still and consume 2.5oz per meal which means I barely get in any fruits or veggies still 😬. I’m currently doing intermittent fasting 16:8 and feel great but I think Protein goals and hydration will be a HUGe issue. I hope more people respond to this I’ve done some google searches and most sites said it would be almost impossible until 2 years out

Hello...I am 1 month post-op. I dont know if I am supposed to fast or not. I am thinking of trying out for a couple of days and then see how things turn out to be.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
