Just starting my journey. Had my first apt on the first with my surgeon, having my endoscopy on the 22nd, my nutritionist apt the 9th...all my paperwork is coming together... but however, I’m just really thinking this is going to all be for nothing because insurance will deny me. I’m barely squeaking by with BMI even though I have severe hypertension and need a knee replacement. I have my insurance requirements printed out and I’m trying to make sure I line all my ducks in a row but I can’t shake this feeling they’ll snag me somewhere... anyone have an issue getting approved when they were on the lower BMI side?

I have severe high blood pressure issues for the past few years and I am always on blood pressure medication.

These are guidlines:

Efforts to lose weight with diet and exercise have been unsuccessful

Your body mass index (BMI) is 40 or higher

Your BMI is 35 or more and you have a serious weight-related health problem, such as type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure or severe sleep apnea

You should be ok.

All the best!

Thanks! Best of luck to you as well. I’m on 3 medications just to control it. Have had it for 12 years. I’ve been on a dr supervised weight loss program for almost 2 years now. Was really successful at first with the program but my body just stopped losing once again and is now gaining it all back rapid fire...which is why I’m turning to this. Plus it’s good I can prove I’ve attempted to lose weight and failed....fingers crossed

I've been on many diets myself, gain some loose some, gain more and there haven't been a gym I have not been a member of, plus boot camp classes and and personal trainers.

This sounds like the majority of us!

Many of us - including me - were convinced weight loss surgery wouldn't work. So many other things didn't work, so why will this?

I'm more than 4 years past WLS & I can tell you it does work. It's not perfect & you still have to do the work every day. But WLS is an incredible tool to help you make better decisions.

Please keep pursuing this! Good luck! You are not alone.

Thanks Dale! And congrats to your success with WLS as well! I have no problem putting in the hard work and dedication it will take for the rest of my life after surgery... it’s just hoping insurance doesn’t stand in my way!!! Lol

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
