Here's today's NSV... I have had clothes in sizes 16 - 24 in my closet for years and years. Today I was sick of having to dig through hanger after hanger to find something that fits.

This is mostly pants, skirts, and jeans. I pulled anything that was bigger than a size 18. My closet is much emptier now and I'm thrilled!20190527_101924.jpeg

Had a physical for employee insurance. They are using waist circumference instead of BMI. My waist was 26 inches. Last year my waist was 44 inches!

Congratulations Debberlee, I went from 60 to 38, not bad for a Old lady the same approximate age as Dirt, I always had an "out of proportion" smaller waist, this tells you how Dang Big I was Before! And it Ain't over yet!
Well, if they don't say so, I vote you "Employee of the Year" and I am awarding you a 🏆 Trophy, because I know you went through a lot to get down here!

An NSV from the odd files... since I've gotten home from the hospital, I sleep through the night without having to get up to use the bathroom. This is astonishing to me, as I've always gotten up at least once to pee every night for as long as I can remember. I'm getting all my fluids and more, so I can't attribute it to dehydration. I'm wondering if it's connected to the fact that my blood sugars are super level, and I'm no longer on my diabetes meds.

Well I am a happier camper tonight. TODAY I bought my first pair of Junior-sized Capri leggings. Okay, they are a 19 but in the NSV world we live in thats a Big ✌ Victory. Did not have to jump up and down to get into, didn't have to lie down on a bed to pull up or zipper them. Don't laugh ,my peeps, but they slid right on smoothly. Just enough snugness that it was like Shapewear and smoothed my blobby globby thighs into smoothness, and if I say so, I look pretty good. Now I want another pair, these are red like a bandana, maybe a navy blue or grey Heather? Less than $4 in price, so wouldn't strain my budget to buy another. And back when I was a 28-30 W I would never believe I could achieve this before my 1st year was up. Don't know if I'm brave enough to wear them out in public, even though I have seen people who must have been dressed by someone who hated them severely. But even if I am at the upper edge, I once again am a Junior-sized person. Yippee Yahoo!

Well I just went into my profile, tried to update it, Ken and Alex once promised to fix the Phone App. so it would work as well as going in from personal computer. Things I tried correcting Weight-199, first surgeon appointment 7/17/2018 Hospital O.S. U. Columbus Ohio Surgery Date 9/05/2018 Surgeon Bradley J Needleman MD, it did have my goal at 175, that's true but when I attempt to correct the rest it's like Teflon, nothing sticks, everything sl8des off into oblivion. If our Electronic Gurus would only fix it
A MAJOR NSV in my life!

I have a IAT, (it's about time) Precious Pouch decided last week that she would tolerate Greek Yogurt, so that gives me an additional Protein source, now if she would only condesend to tolerate. cottage cheese, I used love and eat a lot of 1% milkfat kinds. And I might be able to stir in pineapple, something with a higher Fiber content. I teeter on the border of another milk and molasses enema, even with 2 Miralax a day. Not so much hard firmness as the fact my rectal muscles are tired, weary and 73 years old. Everything gets crammed down there by peristalsis but then they refuse to push it out into its designated receptacle. My hips have gotten smaller but at times I stagger like a toddler with a Full Diaper. And having to ask professional people for help when it is something your body should do on its own? EMBARRASING extremely EMBARRASING! Who wants "Lady with colon full of excretement" on their medical paperwork?

I have a bunch of pairs of NYDJ left from when I lost weight on Phentermine in 2012. Pre-surgery I was wearing a 22W. Today I fit into 14s! The smallest I HAVE, and I thought I was thin at the time, are 12s. Guess if I keep losting I will be needing some smaller jeans!

Wooohoooo everyone! I just found this thread! Is it still in effect for Summer 2019? :) I rarely do the NSVs, cuz everyday feels like an NSV to me these days and I don't wanna hog the NSV threads! But I had to share this cuz I just had a realization! For the last 2 mornings, I "ran" for 60 minutes and 65 minutes continuous at a 3mph (about 5kph) rate. :) That means, I ran 3.1m yesterday and 3.2m today and guess what? That's a freaking 5K!!! Wooot! I will take that any day of the week!! Yay me. NSV!

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.

Some days I feel like an infiltrator... I'm participating in society as a "thin" person. They have no idea that I haven't always been one of them! 🤣

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!
