SALMON HELL!!!

Recommended Posts

Ok so I’m 15 days post op & I’m pain free, tolerated liquid stage really well & puree is pretty good too.

Cut to today & I made the family salmon fillets. “Well this should be easy” I thought, it’s soft & mushes easily...so had two forks of salmon & chewed it to mush. Cue two minutes later sheer agony. I can feel it just sat at the top of my stomach...gurgling, painful & stuck.

YUK. That’ll teach me!!! Will I ever eat solid food again!!!

You will!! What op did you have?

We are all so different. I was eating fish before I left hospital - but even now, it is goes down more easily raw than cooked.

Great you are pain free - welcome to “the losers’ bench” - now the fun begins, and learning new ways of eating is fun, it is the thing that actually makes the weight drop off, but it is also the frustrating bit!!

Ooops I postedin the wrong “zone” sorry!

I had VSG & I think by all accounts it went pretty well! I tolerate liquids, Soups, smoothies, yogurts really well, I have a spoon of Peanut Butter for a bit of Protein, & a spoon of cream cheese. All go down really well!

But jeez...30 min on & that salmon is sat there!! I think because I felt so well & normal I thought “I bet I can just tolerate normal stuff if I chew well...” BIG MISTAKE!!

I'm also wondering if it's just Salmon. I'm 5 months post op and was so looking forward to the grilled Salmon but I got so sick with only having 2 oz. I'm finding that the things I loved before are not agreeing with me now.

I'm 8 years post-op and still can't eat salmon. Even with a sauce, it's too dense and too dry. I can't eat tuna either, same problem. Halibut, cod, and trout are no problem.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
