Anxious and nervous

Recommended Posts

I am a little over a month out from my surgery (3/18) and I am going through a range of emotions. I am nervous about the pain and discomfort following the procedure. I am anxious about getting on this weight loss journey (yet again) and I am trying to wrap my head around how my relationship with food is going to change. Any words of wisdom are appreciated.

Hi. I have no words of wisdom but wanted to wish you luck! I’m in the exact same boat as you. My surgery is March 1st and 1 minute I’m on cloud nine about it and the next I want to cancel. I’m sure what we are feeling is perfectly normal.

If it helps you any, I didn't have one second of pain with my sleeve surgery 9 weeks ago. Day #1 post-op was a lot of nausea, but by Day #2 post-op it was gone. I haven't had any trouble going to the bathroom, keeping down food, getting in my Water, Protein, etc. You can do this! Hang in there, your surgery's right around the corner.

All I can say is walk, walk, walk. I had a lot of nauseous day 1 after surgery but once I was home that went away (the doctors think maybe I was allergic to the pain meds but who knows) I only had pain if I laid in bed because you can't lay on your side or your stomach and prior to surgery laying on my back made me nauseous so I wasn't surprised that laying on my back post op wasn't all that great. I slept on the couch or in a chair for a bout a week and then I was good. Anytime I felt discomfort I got up and walked and it helps A LOT!

Hello,

Agree walk walk walk to get that gas out after surgery, I was able to start walking 2 hours after surgery.
I never experience any pain with my sleeve or incisions; it was more of the gas discomfort

I'm one week post-sleeve, and if I could give my past self any advice before going into the operation, it would be to just expect the first few days to suck (pain, gas cramps, discomfort, feeling tired and sorry for yourself) and to take it one day at a time, and to not expect to be like the people who were back at work or running errands on day 2 or 3. Essentially -- hope for the best, but expect the worst! The mental part is so big in all this.

I'm on Day 7 and I feel like a completely different person than me at Day 2. It gets soooo much better, just get through those first few days. Sending you positive vibes!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
