Scale hasn’t moved since surgery

Recommended Posts

Hello!
I’m a sleeve patient and have had a wonderful experience. Current weight is 163. This post isn’t about me, but a dear friend who had bypass 12 days ago. She hasn’t lost a single pound yet and she is getting discouraged. She didn’t have any weight loss prior to her surgery since her BMI was just over 35. She has many pre-existing issues such as diabetes, fatty liver disease, heart issues, etc.

She seems to be getting her Protein and is following her post op diet. She is also drinking over 80 ounces of Water per day.

Any ideas??? Is this normal?

Tell her it's way too early to worry. She's still very swollen inside and people heal at different rates. She hasn't even shed all the IV fluids yet. Let her know that some doctors tell you not to weigh at all the first month because it can be discouraging. As she heals, the weight will drop, probably dramatically!

@Orchids&Dragons is right. WAY to early to worry. Her bod has just had its insides messed with, it will take time to recover. The early weeks are tough work. She should put away the scale until she's on solids and just concentrate on learning her new way of eating.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
