Looking into the process and what is involved. Our insurance will cover with several requirements and there are several doctors in our area that I want to check into. My question is I see that most doctors state they will do a free insurance check. Will this hurt you, meaning if your insurance gets inquiries from multi doctor office's will they see this as she's just shopping around. But isn't that what you want to do? Find the doctor you are comfortable with.

It won't hurt you. I saw three doctors before I chose one. And they had me call the insurance to find out my coverage (which they also knew because they work with my insurance a lot) and they only contacted the insurance once I'd met the requirements.

I can't imagine this would be detrimental and I don't think they can penalize you for checking out all your options, provided that you meet all their requirements. To me, this sounds more like something the doctors' offices are saying to try to "incentivize" picking them—like, "Hey, pick us and we'll handle dealing with your insurance for you."

It's not like a credit card where a hard inquiry affects your rating, it's a verification of coverage.

You can also call your insurance company and ask the same question for total peace of mind.

No, it won't hurt anything at all. They're just checking for limitations, if 6 mos. of weight loss management is required before surgery, deductibles, and such. All okay.

Every insurance policy is different. From what you are saying, your Cigna policy has an exclusion. Submitting paperwork will not do you any good - it is not covered. You either need to wait until you can change carriers to someone who does cover (check before enrolling) or go self pay. There probably are Cigna policies which cover bariatrics, but it appears yours does not. Having the doctor submit won't change that.

A lot of insurance companies don't cover it. I had to wait until I got a policy through an insurance company that covered it. Sometimes it's just a coverage level Gold, Bronze, Silver, Dirt, etc...

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
