Lapband advice needed - feeling weird

Recommended Posts

Had Lapband procedure almost 3 years ago. (Wish I could turn back time...) Surgery was fine. Recovery was fine. Lost 25 pounds pretty quickly. Not too quickly, but was on schedule. Then stalled. Stayed stalled. Then started gaining. I am now back at my pre-surgery weight. I take full blame for this. The band is a tool and I have not used it properly.

I have pretty much always been aware of the port. I can feel it inside me. If I move a certain way I am very aware of it. Recently I don't feel "right". It's hard to describe. But I feel a little queasy mixed with a little hungry almost all the time. I don't think I'm really hungry, but I eat to try to feel better. I have a general feeling of discomfort. So, I'm thinking that I need to do go a doctor to see if something is wrong. However, the group that I had surgery through has gone out of business. I don't even know what kind of doctor to go to.

I am honestly considering going to Mexico to have the band taken out and get a mini-bypass, but have to wait a bit on finances. I think I should check on my current band before then.

Any advice? Has anyone else ever feel "off" or "not right"?

Hi I had the lap band for 11 years and only lost like 20 pounds on it I actually lost more on my own years later I finally took that that band out this October 1 because I was just getting sick and lots and lots of a stomach acids so at this point I’m going to get the sleeve February 5 day I wish I would’ve contacted the Bariatrics doctors much sooner if you have insurance you can get it done in the states the cover what they call A revision most doctors won’t do them at the same time it’s usually two surgeries that’s how mine is doing it he is very very good doctor. good luck

You should go to a bariatric doctor to see if all is well with your band and your stomach. Also, do some pondering on whether you are now ready to commit to living within the rules of post-bariatric surgery life.

Yes! Go to a doctor. I am a long time bander also so I understand how hard it is to commit to this forever. Sometimes you fall off the wagon. Sometimes life happens. I happened to get pregnant- got unfilled. My advice is go to your doctor and keep going to your doctor if you can afford it until you hit your sweet spot. I fell off the wagon once for a couple of years- gained all my weight back and lost it again by getting on track with the band. That was before having the baby. I’ve struggled since then.

Personally, if you are ready to re commit to the band and the lifestyle (it's not easy)

I would give the 5 day pouch test a try. I usually do it when I get off track and i think it helps....try to be honest with your self...exercise, eat slowly, make good food choices and track everything. It's a lot of work, and it sounds like at one point it was working.

Good luck!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
