Sleeved 30th Dec 427Lbs

Recommended Posts

Hi All,

Newbie here😀. Wanna share my journey in getting sleeved & how its turning out so far.

Am 40 Yrs old. Gained weight in last 2 years (from 320 lbs to 427lbs) due to severe depression & alcohol abuse. Suffering from Anxiety & panic attacks. So with courage from my wife & family went & sought help in June 2018. Quit Drinking in Sep. Have been sober since. Was smoking till Dec 28th 2018. Not much. May be 5-6 V light slim cigarettes a day. Have had hypertension for last 10 yrs. No Sugar. No diabetes. No Cholesterol issues as well.

Got admitted on 29th Dec. Had my Laparoscopic Sleeve done on the 30th of Dec. Got discharged from Hospital on the 1st of Jan 2019. It was a wonderful homecoming.

Have been recommended a liquid diet by the team for 3 months.

I asked the team if i could swim as even prior to getting sleeved i used to swim 2 times daily. Surprisingly they okeyed me to swim and did Water proof dressings for the stitches which we replace after disinfecting every day after i swim. Its been a week today since the surgery. I have been swimming for 3 days regularly now. I feel soooooo different.

Sorry for the long first post. More to follow. Glad to be a part off this great community.

I will share the complete 7 days after my surgery including the Birthday party dinner of 25 friends we celebrated today for my sister. Imagine all the food & booze & smokes i had around me?🤣

My team stresses absolutely no smoke for at least 6 weeks after surgery, even second hand. And the two weeks prior. I’m surprised you could smoke that close to your surgery date. They believe smoke leads to leaks. I quit years ago but I freak out if anyone is smoking in my vicinity. [emoji23]. Hope you have great success. Congrats on seeking help.

To tell u the truth. My Surgeon is a friend of the family. I was just not ready to have the sleeve. U r gonna laugh now. I woke up on 28th morning & sent him a text if he can operate me on the 30th? He said yes & i told him i am smoking right now with my coffee. He said muck it & pls this time just come & get admitted & he will take care off the rest. Thats how i walked into it. New year resolution hype thing. Never dieted pre op.

For the dinner today well they were all smoking outside by the pool so i was never near. But hell yes i could smell all the smoke & see all that house cooked meat Balls & Grilled Chkn & Pasta & Paella & Black Forest Cake infront off me. It was very very testing to say the least especially as its been only 1 week today since the surgery. But then given the circumstances I had no option but to keep on sipping my iced Water.< /p>

Wow you people have been lucky but you will heal quicker and better if you remove the tobacco from your life. Smoking can also provoke ulcers, I don't smoke but I have non-healing ulcers, now my surgeon ordered me not to be present when someone else smokes, so even second-hand smoke is bad.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
