Hi everyone. I had my bypass on Monday, March 4. Unfortunately, my outcome was not very good.

I had a lot of pain right after surgery and it kept getting worse. I Diid a blood Sample that showed either an infection or a leak. They then did a CAT scan and it turned out it was both.

They are installing a drain tomorrow that to drain al the pouch stuff that has leaked into the abdominal cavity. I will have another surgery soon to repair the leak. Hopefully this is just a minor Detour and i will make it eventually

I know I shouldn't but I weight myself every morning and a few times during the day. 6-7 days after surgery I was down 8 lb. but the last 5 days I am bouncing around and basically only lost 2 lbs. Ugh. I am estimating I am burning 1500-2000 calories and only getting in 450-500 calories. I know it's early etc and tomorrow I could wake up and suddenly be down 2 lbs but I am feeling frustrated. I see the NUT and MD Wed. and am anticipating advancing to soft foods and thus my calories will probably go up so I am already thinking this is going to be so slow.

I'm one month post-op and I'm down 20 lbs, and 15 of those were lost the first 2 weeks post-op and 5 were the 2nd two weeks. I was definitely discouraged like you with the slow loss of the second half of the month until I went to my nutritionist yesterday for my evaluation, and he said it's completely normal to have a fast loss the first two weeks and struggle to lose the 2nd two weeks, because our bodies are adjusting to the sudden loss of both fat and Water, etc. He said the rate will pick up again (although not as fast as 15 lbs in 2 weeks!) so I felt somewhat comforted.

I hope we all have healthy, satisfactory and steady losses in March!

Sorry to hear of your complications. I hope it's just a minor detour too, and you will make it eventually, albeit you're taking a little longer route. You're in my thoughts, I hope for a speedy recovery once they get you all fixed up.

I’m so glad to read this. I also dropped super duper fast (24 pounds in 12 days) and now super sloooooow (2 pounds in the last 16 days).
My dr told me that I could expect to lose 12-16 pounds per month once the initial weight drop settles in
I’ll take that

Thanks to everyone for your words of encouragement. I'm trying to stay positive, but it's difficult after you've waited so long and worked so hard, only to have it go south.

They are taking about possibly doing second surgery this afternoon, which is good for me. I can't get out of this hospital fast enough.

I have only been allowed Clear Liquids in the hospital--and no Protein whatsoever. I'm sure I've lost weight, but not the right way.

I probably won't post again until I'm back home after the second surgery. In the meantime, congratulations to everyone on how much you have achieved already!

By FAR, one of the most DISGUSTING things I have ever consumed. But 42 g of protein- ok. Thus far I can’t get more that 1/2 of one of these down.

I was so sick last night. I vomited for hours. For lunch I had left over Soup. I noticed as I was leaving work that I was very bloated. I figured it was my shortened bowel not liking the Beans in the soup. For dinner I had left over chopped steak (from yesterday). I only had 2 bites. I started feeling bad quickly. Then the vomiting started. After a while just getting up thick saliva . Thought maybe I didn’t chew my food enough but on thinking about it, I chewed it thoroughly. I have no clue what pissed my stomach off, but it super sucked

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
