Happy New Year! What Gift Are You Giving Yourself?

Recommended Posts

Happy New Year!!

What gift are you giving yourself this year?

For me, it was getting vsg. I started a few months before the new year - started losing weight Oct 17th, had the surgery Nov 26th, and I'm now down 40 lbs before January 1st!

I want to give myself my health back. I'm resolving to eat food that feeds my body and soul instead of my cravings, to feel the highs of being exhausted after good physical activity, and being able to do the things my weight held me back from before.

What about you?

Perhaps next year we can come back to this thread and see how we've all made out!

Hi hope you are having a great New Year's Eve. I had RnY on Dec 10th. Had surgery as much or maybe a little more because of my comorbidities. I have had exactly 3 shots of insulin since Dec 9th. I was taking 5 a day, 6 on Wednesdays. I have lost 25 pounds since I began this journey in October. Whooo whooo! I try to walk everyday. I have a brace on both legs. They don't hold me back too much. I need knee replacement surgery on the one knee. My failure to lose weight for that found me on this journey. I had started it before but lost a lot of weight just going by the diet guidelines and chickened out. So thrilled I commeted to the journey this time. I give myself health and happiness for the new year.

Awesome! I struggle with walking myself because of problems with my Achilles, and it's inspiring to hear how you're pushing yourself forward despite wearing braces and needing a knee replacement! Maybe pool walking would be beneficial?

And what did you give you this year? And another challenge for you all- If you could give your Pre-surgery self a message , what would it be?
I would tell me Surgery was not half as bad as I expected. I would say You will lose weight even if you doubt it now. And finally Frustr8 you are a strong woman, you can handle this challenge too!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
