Getting nervous and starting to freak out

Recommended Posts

funny thing to feel so scared and nervous after waiting so long to finally have the surgery... I could have done this 4 years ago..

I don't have a pre-op diet. But it makes sense to do a few days of liquid to make the liver shrink.

My date is December 28th. So after Christmas Day I will do 2 days for cleansing...

Well you are getting close. I will pray for you. Here are 3 last minute recommendations:

1. Take a good before photograph of yourself, so that you have something to compare to after surgery. Many times we are blind to our obesity. We do not see ourselves. Therefore when the weight begins to drop off rather dramatically, we question if this is really happening. Photographs are a good visualization of our success. Many people carry a before and after photo with them, just to remind themselves of their success.

2. Walk 30 minutes each day, every day until surgery (or equivalent exercise). Walking helps the recovery process go smoothly and minimized the gas pain after surgery.

3. Wean yourself from caffeine and carbonated beverages now. After I gave up my 6 diet coke a day habit, I suffered from a week of severe withdrawal syndrome consisting of severe headaches and body aches. I was miserable. You don't want to combine the effects of caffeine withdrawal with the effects of surgery.

Thanks for all the support. I am planning on taking a photo or 2 and unfortunately I'm fibromyalgia maxed out. Which puts me in for little exercises. But, I am trying very hard to do what I can. The doctors are thinking this will help me tremendously with all my pain.

Is it me or was anyone else excited and scared at the same time!!!

Definately, it's normal to feel both ways at once. And I started thinking just the other day, am I going to starve? But my Doctor assures me I'm doing just fine, although my path is a little skewed compared with many of you, I also will make it THERE!

Good. I thought I was crazy feeling scared yet excited.

I'm hoping to use my drinks from Avon and Vitamins. May even ask my doctor to review the nail and hair supplements.. I don't want to lose my hair.

Your right about the caffeine. I drink 2 to 3 cups of coffee per day and sometimes tea. I cut tea to herbal caffeine free. My coffee is still at 2 or 3 a day. Body aches are my life as is with my fibromyalgia. Did you stop caffeine all at once?

I went cold turkey at the beginning of the program. When I went thru the psych eval, the psychologist was trying to determine if I had the proper mindset for the surgery. I told him I already went cold turkey on the caffeine/carbonated beverage requirement. He took the paperwork and wrote passed.

I am scared/ hopeful- not really excited- I feel alot of guilt for having to do this for some reason - I am also ashamed - I don’t feel that way about anyone else that has had the surgery but I do for myself

This is my before and after photo at the 6 month mark. Quite a lot can happen in 6 months.

I think that way too. But I also forgave myself for not taking care of myself more. I have had to deal with PCOS and fibromyalgia both. It's hard with either of them but I could have done more. That's all past... let's look ahead to what we can do from here on...

Good Advice -I am trying to do that too🐾💕-I also have been immobile on a scooter due to leg issues - had to have revision of a prior tendon repair - I was not going to do this surgery but my Dr said I had a hiatal hernia and bad esophageal scarring and as long as that had to be repaired I should consider it and so while I was out with my leg I had the additional testing done- once we knew I did not have esophageal cancer I thought - I should do this and get myself back. I was in a very bad relationship with a man who tricked me into putting him on the deed of my coop. When I sold it he drained our shared account- as this happened- I needed hope and to do something for me. The feeling of betrayal was so horrifying- he nearly ruined me financially, physically and mentally. So when we say look forward I am so right there ready to not look back!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
