What did your pre-op diet consist of?

Recommended Posts

Hey everyone I am having my gastric bypass surgery on Tuesday December 18th and I have been on a 2 week Medi Fast shake liquid diet. I know the purpose of all this is to shrink my liver. What kind of diets did you have pre-op? I know I only have 2 days left but I physically can not have another shake. I feel like I am going to throw up. I already lost like 10 pounds on this diet. I would rather have like clear broth my last 2 days these shakes are making me sick 😝😝

Starting weight- 304

Current weight-287 🤗

They;re all so different. Mine was 2 weeks liquids (any kind of non-sweetened liquid). So, Protein Shakes (3-6/day - any brand with at least 20g protein), nonfat milk, tea, Water, broth, sugar free popsicles, strained low fat Soups (which I never had because that just feels like broth). And I had a Protein goal that I needed to hit (70g/day).

I am currently on my pre-op diet, which consists of five Protein Shakes per day which are specially formulated for the surgery, as well as a small amount of Protein per day and up to 400 to 500 G of select vegetables, no oils. My pre-op diet is for the entire month before the surgery although I hear some people do not have to have any kind of diet whatsoever in comparison. My current weight is somewhere around 420 lb so that may have something to do with it? It also could be that here in Finland they just require a very long pre-op diet, I am not sure.

I had 15 days of 2 Atkins shakes, 1 Advanced Recovery shake, and 1 Atkins/Healthy Choice meal per day. On the 16th day I had nothing but Water.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
