Not to totally take this in another direction but.....Have any of you now developed dry skin , especially on your face? I used to make fun of the older ladies in my family slithering on Ponds Cold Creme and such, well be careful what you mock, Karma has circled around and proves her point! Good Thing that I don't have an husband anymore, if he tried to kiss me, his lips would slide right off! LOL- it is what it is!

OMG, Thank you to all of you! The support is good overall, but sometimes you just want to hear from someone your own age (or close to it)! I hope I will see more of posts here.

Well hello Shashy, I FINALLY have someone my age to talk to! So when was your Birthday? I turned 73 on December 26th, have a 9 month old RNY, her name is Precious Pouch, I fought over 3 years to gain her, she is Not Grateful, tries her best to rule my every moment, and wins most of the time! On the other hand I have lost, if scale figures are correct, 111 pounds since surgery which puts me at a BMI of 31.1, my High BMI was almost 52 a short year ago, almost to the date. So pretty doggone good for ME. It hasn't been a perfect textbook recovery, some things still to be ironed out, but I will make it. We Baby Boomers are made out of strong steel, not plastic or fiberglass like the Young Ones, we last and last, and we don't easily blow away at the first blast of wind. So Hurray for the late 40s and early 50s, we were built GOOD!

I'm 63 and will be having my VSG on October 1, 2019. Now, I don't know about you, but I get tired being asked about why I would do something "at my age." OMG! I'm in really good health physically. It's just this 4th grader that's been strapped to me for the last 20+ years that's causing most of my medical issues. My doctor says lose the weight, and most of my friends would ask why "at my age" would I go through this (if I told them)? I know my husband & adult children, as well as other family members and friends have watched my struggles with weight and "love me just the way I am." But I don't! I want to live a very long life, I want to be mobile for the duration and I want better health! So, age be damned! I'm heading to Mexico and a new lifestyle!

Why not? Why not now, this is a Beautiful Day, might be a lovely time also at Bariatric Pal Mexico.
Being thinner is a real winner; and you will find out, as I did, a former Foodaholic, nothing tastes as good as Thin feels. And as my own Fat Shell continues to crack, people are starting to see the Beautiful ME that was there always. But when you're obese you are beneath their notice, I guess you are an non-person. Hey world🌏 I'm Here, I've always been here but you had blinders on, you JUST couldn't see me, for my surroundings or something. So your Ex-cuses have expired, if you still can't see ME please Ex-it from my presence, you s
just became Ex-tranious or something similar!

I guess it's really spelled extraneous, but I do think you caught my drift there!

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!
