Hi guys I was sleeved on 2/4 and today I'm having really bad pain that basically feels like someone is cinching a belt under my breasts and radiates to my back has anyone experienced this or knows what it is? it's happening during drinking and sometimes after drinking I've tried taking smaller sips thinking that's the problem and no dice.

I feel like I had this. Esophageal spasms my surgeon said. He said to stay on top of the pepcid. Good luck.

My surgery isn't till the 25th, but I've done a lot of reading and it sounds like the pain could be where they took the extra part of the stomach out. I'm sorry you don't feel well and hope it passes quickly. Maybe they one of your pain pills? Best wishes!
Thanks for the support I was trying to cut down on the liquid pain medication, but it tough with the pain.

Need to vent, I had VSG on 2/7 with starting weight of 305. I did put on 7 pounds in the hospital and as of today I am down to 303. I do not regret having the surgery at all, but I have been having bowel issues and pain. I went from nothing for 4 days to multiple times today. I could deal with just that but I continue to have pain to the right of my belly button. It is the only real pain I have had since the day of the surgery, but it stinks. Feels like my muscle is going to rip. Wish the pain would go away! Anyone else deal with something similar?

Is the pain on an incision site? I've read a lot of people have a lot of pain in one incision and it's usually the spot they have to tug quite hard on to get it out. I also watched a video of the procedure lol

I've had 5 abdominal and 3 were surgeries that they have gone throughout my belly button and I always have trouble healing there. I'm going to ask if they can skip it this time.

Soon it will all be a distant memory and things will be looking up. Till then, rest as much as you can!

The pain is actually a few inches below and to the right of the biggest incision. I also have had multiple abdominal surgery's and this pain is the worst. Just going to take one day at a time until it is resolved. I have my postop appt on friday, so I will talk to MD then. Thanks

I ended up needing an extra night in the hospital. Just couldn’t get much down other than Water. Hoping today goes better and I can get home.

I think I would’ve benefited from another night but I’m sipping away from my hotel room. Honestly I think I’m coming down with a cold too. Just ready to fast forward a week!

Follow the liquid diet plan your drs have given you. I'm so happy I did. I had my surgery yesterday with no complications. It only took an hr and half. I'm extremely sore but I'm doing great. I will be released today. My dr was so pleased with how far I've come and in my recovery. My throat is sore so I've had popcicles and ice cold Water. That helps so much. I had some discomfort with heart burn in my chest and grogginess from anesthesia. I'm still pretty high from the pain killers they have given me so I hope this helps and makes sense lol Good luck guys! I'm in the biggest loser club!!

I am scheduled for 2/20, 1 week down of pre op diet, much easier now then it has been. I am trying to judge how my recovery will ... I know everyone is different but I am taking eveyones stories in right now.

Congratulations, I can't wait to join you :)

I had sleeve surgery on 2/6 and I’m feeling great. Just moving to a soft diet and lost 8 lbs the first week.

I had my surgery on Feb 6th and I lost 10 lbs the first week on the clear liquid diet, but now that I'm on a full liquid diet, the weight loss has slowed slightly -- I'm still losing but at a much slower daily rate. Has this happened with anyone else?

I also have a hard time drinking Water still -- it makes me nauseous. I've been drinking a lot of other liquids but I find it impossible to hit that 3 liter daily liquid goal without being able to drink much water.

Other than that, I physically feel totally normal, hope you all are recovering well also!

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.

Some days I feel like an infiltrator... I'm participating in society as a "thin" person. They have no idea that I haven't always been one of them! 🤣

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL
