2 weeks post op and everything tastes differently

Recommended Posts

I've heard people say that things taste different after barriatric surgery, but how soon after did everyone (if you did at all) experience this?

I'm 2 weeks post op and seemed like it happened over night. Muscle milk in which tasted alright before now tastes like sour milk to me and Gatorade tastes super salty and filled with chemicals.

How soon did your taste buds change after surgery and did they ever go back?

I think everyone is different, but I’m 6 months out and I still don’t like certain things I use to love...

yep it changes but I agree everyone i different. It happens in the beginning for sure... then after 5-8 months you get to eat better and try new things . I have few things i don't care for anymore but its not too much different. I just can't eat certain things because they fill me up too quickly so I stick with more digestible foods.

Or you have things that are ok for a couple months after surgery then all of a sudden you don't like at all. Lol

The biggest change for me is the fact that I can no longer stomach any temperature of plain Water. Has to be flavored or it comes back up. I use crystal light. I used to guzzle plain water. Strange.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
