stricture problem or just food sensitivity

Recommended Posts

Frustr8, I am sorry to hear that you are still having a hard time of it. My father suffered from ulcers for years and it is hard to deal with.

I did another internet search and came across the following article. Treatment - Stomach ulcer

I think you checked off most of the potential treatments, but there is one that I didn't know if you looked at.

H2-receptor antagonists

Like PPIs, H2-receptor antagonists work by reducing the amount of acid your stomach produces.

Ranitidine is the most widely used H2-receptor antagonist for treating stomach ulcers.

Wow James, you are psychic! I looked through my meds and I have an in-date bottle of Ranitidine from my gastroenterologist. Thanks, it may be a successful tool to add. Doing pretty well with my PICC LINE and TPN. And as long as that profits me also, I am not going request its removal, each lab has been very well. But it is quite an📝 experience thus far!😝🎁

If that does''t work you might try some nonconventional approaches.

I am a believer in the use of essential oils. Put a dab of oil on one wrist and then rub your wrist together or you can put a dab of oil on the soles of your feet. Do this one or two times per day. The oil is absorbed through your skin and into your blood supply within minutes. Some suggested essential oil blends for stomach ulcers are:

Thieves Oil - a mixture of Clove, Lemon, Cinnamon Bark, Eucalyptus Radiata and Rosemary.

DiGize - a mixture of Tarragon, Ginger, Peppermint, Juniper, Fennel, Anise, Patchouli and Lemongrass.

Melrose - a mixture of Rosemary, Melaleuca Alternifolia, Clove and Niaouli.

Other single essential oils that might help are: Lemongrass, Copaiba, Lemon, Myrtle, Patchouli, German Chamomile, Myrrh, and Peppermint.

Another approach is to use herbal teas.

In fact, peppermint and chamomile teas are anti-inflammatories that can soothe your ulcer pain and encourage healing. Brew your tea and allow it to cool until just warm—too hot and you'll irritate your ulcer. Stir in some raw honey for its antibacterial qualities as well as for its sweet flavor.

I'm one month post surgery and I was wondering if I have a stricture issue or just sensitive to some food. I can throw up sometimes after eating but only once a day at most. I have acid reflex still and I'm on medication for it but feel like stuff still gets stuck like chicken. Should I just give it more time or be worried?

Update?

I'm doing much better. Doctor said just wait and to keep going but now I'm eating has increased and I'm not sure how much calories I should be eating. I'm eating between 800 to 1200 calories....just depends on my activities.

Nothing changed but I am still hopeful, it will be a Good Year for me, just somewhat deferred.

Somebody asked how can I be cheerful. with ulcers and an stomal stricture? Well why not? I still believe this is a condition I will grow past, I am not a victim but a survivor through all of the twists and turns and maybe my📝 story will give others hope.😛🌈 for their own futures.

Thank you everyone. liquids are fine and I'm supposed to be on soft solid foods but maybe I'll give it another few weeks before eating certain things.

Yes this was me also. I had some major issues with chicken at first. I think its a little early. I didnt really start in on full meats until about 3-4 months. I still cant handle eggs but I think its just because my pouch doesnt like them anymore.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
