I am scheduled for the gastric sleeve in January. I am having second thoughts and debating on changing surgery to the gastric bypass. Has anyone had the sleeve and wished they would have went ahead with the bypass? Or had a revision? Or anything like that and why. Thanks!
I had the sleeve last April, was doing okay until I stopped taking the omeprazile and just used tumms (huge mistake). I have bad acid reflux now and maybe stones having an ultasound and swallow test on Wednesday. Two people that I know had the sleeve and then went in for a revision because of the acid reflux. So now am thinking should have had the bypass. Am taking pantroprazil (not sure about spelling) and it has helped but still have had some bad spells with bell peppers and greasy ground beef. So I don't know but I was 365 and am down to 267. You do not have that much to lose so if you do the sleeve do not stop using omeprazile under any circumstances.

Another point to consider is if your insurance limits you to one bariatric surgery per lifetime. If that’s the case, you should consider RNY over VSG, cut once, as there are a number of people that are requiring revision surgery after VSG and you would hate to have to self-pay for a 2nd surgery. As well, weight loss is typically better with an original surgery than a revision surgery.

Long term use of PPIs is also not recomneded as they cause risks for serious health issues/diseases.

HI there. I am considering a revision form SVG to RNY. What all are you required to do pre-op? You have to do everything before you know if insurance will cover your procedure? DO you have any concerns/reservations?
Two people I know had the revision, one had gall stones and damage to esophagus because of acid reflux so her Doc advised her to do the revision they both said it was easier second time around but am sure there are draw backs with the revision but do not know what exactly. Both say they are happier now.

Me! I am in process of revision from VSG to RNY. My sleeve was dilated with the end of my esophagus due to stricture/dysphagia. This caused VSG to fail resulted in 65 lb weight gain. I have completed all pre testing. I have psych eval on 1/9 then we submit to insurance. Hopeful and ready.
What do you mean? You mean your pouch expnded?

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
