Just looking for any ideas to when I’ll have an appetite

What kind are you drinking? Some are thicker than others. Also, they do make clear Protein Drinks. That’s what they gave me in the hospital. Good luck!!

Ok so to answer this topics actual topic, When will you have an appetite again, this is pretty much per user. Some folks never get hungry again, some never lose the hunger, and those that did lose it, most gain it back again by the time they hit the 1 year mark.

For the shake, it could depend on what brand. If it's a Protein concentrate, those typically have high levels of lactose due to being just concentrated milk Proteins, nothing gets removed. Protein isolate contains zero to almost zero lactose. Lots of people become intolerant to lactose after WLS. Try a different brand. Or look for some of the Protein Water versions of "shakes". Isopure RTD are really good, clear, protein sources, as well as Protein2O.

I had to buy GNC Protein Powder and only mix with Water because the milk based ones were too thick for me too. I also tried some my Dr office gave me samples of and some my tummy couldn't tolerate. But I still had to stay clear of the ones with milk because of the density.

I found that using the Premiers in coffee or even tea (both hot and cold) worked great for me. It made them thinner, and really cut the sweetness. I could get them down a lot faster.

And now here's Mama...*shakes finger at you*. "Now you know darn good and well, it's up to YOU to make good choices. And the best choice you can make right now is to eat by the clock, not your appetite."

If it's 8am, it's time for a Protein Drink. Same thing at around 11am, then again 2pm, then replay at 5pm, then one more at 8pm, and if you need to...do one at 10pm before bed. 5 x 4oz = 20oz of protein; 6 x 4oz = 24oz Protein drink (EVEN BETTAH!!!). :) Just dooooooo eeeeettttt! :)

Seriously...Bananas and Cream mixed with decaff over ice? IMPOSSIBLY delicious!!!! I call it banana Joe from CocoMo!!! So dang good!

I’m trying the premier brand thank you guys for the responses I will give these ideas a try

Premier has a high level of lactose due to the Protein concentrate (it's their first protein). Check out Isopure powders for more shake like drinks, those Ready to Drink versions for thinner "shakes". Or literally ANY other shake that doesn't have protein concentrate.

Like others have mentioned some never get an appetite back. I'm seven years out and do not get physically hungry. It's different I feel like I should eat, but never hungry like before. I did have head hunger the first year, I never do now.

As for the shakes I did the Protein waters for a long time and that worked for me. Plain Water and shakes were tough at first. Good luck healing. You'll do great!

My program and surgeon suggested I make my own Protein Shakes. And since day 5 I have had zero artificial Protein.

My program calls it a set point smoothie but its just plain greek yogurt, spinach and add a fruit of your choice. I added strawberries and blue berries. Make it runny if your early out or still on liquids.

If you youtube Dr. Matthew Weiner that is where you can learn about the set point smoothies and protein shakes.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.
