I'm 16 days post op & my left side hurts so bad I can't stand up for more than a few minutes before I need to sit, let alone go for a walk! I was walking more my first few days then I am now... I'm usually a tough cookie (delivered 4 babies all natural), but I'm feeling like a complete wimp right now...
Anyone else have this much pain after surgery or is it just me?

It’s gas Sabrina, that pain is worst than the incision pain, mine was so bad that I went to the ER, I thought something really serious was wrong, had a Cat scan and blood work done, came back normal...I felt so embarrassed 😩 the next day, the gas was released and I felt like a new woman and that happened 4 weeks post op...who would’ve thought that I’d still have gas after all that time.

By 16 days out I was having no pain at all. Pain could be due to trapped gas or Constipation if things are not moving along. I did have to take some milk of magnesia a couple of times in the early days.

However, if you have a fever, vomiting or increasing pain I would call your doctor immediately or go to the ER since it is possible that you have some sort of abscess or even appendicitis.

Generally when you are released from the hospital you are given Discharge Instructions. This includes a list of symptoms for which you are to contact your surgeons office and report.

In my list, one of the items was "uncontrolled or increased abdomen pain"

It sounds like you have uncontrolled pain and it sounds like your pain is increasing. But you indicated it was on your left side which I normally wouldn't associate with abdominal pain. Anyways it might be prudent to contact your surgeons office and let them know what is going on.

You're a good guy James. 5 years out and you are still on here helping people out. Well done! :)

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
