I am 5 years post op and having some pain in my abdomen but only when I am full of gas. If I lay on my left side I could belch for a good 30 min straight, no other symptoms. I called my Dr. to find out he is no longer at the practice and this new Dr. wants me to come in but I don't believe anything is wrong, I just need something to alleviate the gas. Once I get it out I am fine, no soreness in my abdomen at all. I am here seeing if anyone else experiences this and if they take anything like Gas X to help alleviate. I will go into the office if I need to but just wanna try something first.

Any advise is appreciated. I am also working on documenting when is happens to see if its specific to certain foods etc being it doesn't happen that often.

I haven't had my band long (got it this summer) but I have a very similar issue, especially when i lie on my left side at night. I can literally turn over and I can feel it bubble and I could belch for ages!! I have tried some anti gas type pills but they dont do a lot. I have found really I just have to let it all out and then I'm ok! Think its just something I am going to have to live with - but luckily it doesnt cause any pain!

Thank you for the reply! After my divorce I lost my ex-husband's insurance so now I have to pay cash being they don't take mine. I will go if I absolutely have to and pay the office visit ($200) but not for a little discomfort. I would think if I had slippage I would have other symptoms along with it...

I also am from the lay on your left side (with a heating pad) to ease Lap band discomfort .
I believe only about 20-25% of banders get long term results...
there are product malfunctions, dr ‘s placement problems, operator error, and other issues . The continuing dr visits have helped me, and truly, checking in here also helps.
I am a long term bander, and I understand I may not have her forever. For me, thank goodness it works with me.

Long before I got my band, I had a similar problem. My belly would swell and I had to belch for almost an hour for it to go away. Turns out it was a problem with my gall bladder. I thought it was nothing serious, but after a few years, other symptoms cropped up and I ended up getting my gall bladder removed.

So, if you have this problem and still have your gall bladder, you might want to get it checked, just to be safe. It might not be a band problem.

I am 7yrs. In and I been dealing with trapped gas alot. I've also gotten my gallbladder removed due to the excessive gas and it still didn't help because i'm still experiencing this unwanted pain and pressure!!! Anything I eat, I get gas. I try taking Gas X pills sometimes it helps and sometimes it doesn't. If I don't eat I get gas!!! I think this is just a side effect to the band!!!

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.
