Mental Hunger ☹️

Recommended Posts

I am almost two weeks post-op and today the mental hunger has really gotten to me. I started a pre-op liquid diet for two weeks and am on a liquid diet for six weeks after surgery. While I know that I can not physically tolerate any type of food, it doesn’t stop me from remembering the taste or wanting a bite. I have four kids (15 to 7) and a husband that I have to cook for. I will say my husband has stepped up to cooking and been very understanding, but I still help out. I am proud to say I haven’t cheated pre- or post-op and usually leave while they eat dinner. Does it get any better? What are some things that you do to overcome mental hunger?

i am 23 days out and YES, its mentally challenging!! especially when you want taste what your cooking out of habit. I just keep cooking nightly and make sure that I drink a lot of Water prior or sip what I'm having for my meal prior to cooking and then just sit with everyone through conversation.

Just drink lots of your fluids especially Water to help with head hunger. I relied heavily on homemade bone broths and yes, it does get easier.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
