Glucerna Hunger Smart drink

Recommended Posts

A drug rep stopped by today and brought by some samples of Glucerna Hunger Smart drink. This is new to me. I was reading the nutrition and saw where there is

15g of Protein

8g fat

16g carbs

6g sugar

6g Fiber

In addition to 25-30% of daily allowance of all the needed Vitamins, including Iron. Noticed that the Labrada shake does not have iron.

Anyone drink these? Thoughts?

For me, that's too many carbs for the amount of Protein you get. I like the Premier Protein, because you get 30g of protein per drink, and it's only 4g of carbs.

I drink Labrada because it’s lactose and gluten free, for 17 oz it only has 9 g of carbs and 40 G Protein, 280 cal. They work well for me 👍🏾

They're not a terrible choice, but low on the "bang for the buck" scale. At 160 calories, you can get 30 grams of Protein from Premier Protein. Protein Water can give you 15-20g of protein for 60-90 calories. But you have to experiment and see what you tolerate. That's the most important thing. The carb level isn't bad if you're not insulin-resistant. If you have insulin issues, most people keep carbs as low as humanly possible in the beginning.

Don't get me started on Protein water.....BLEH!!! I've wasted so much money trying different ones. I am loving Gatorade Zero and flavored Mio's even though there is no real nutritional value of much.

Yep, doesn't matter how nutritional they are if you won't drink them! Which Protein waters have you tried?

Protein2O

Premier Protein Water

another can’t think name of. Can’t do the sickly sweet taste. Even if I watered it down:(

I get ya. I don't like the taste either, but I treat them like medicine. Otherwise, I'll never hit my Protein goals. I've just ordered the Syntrax Nectar variety pack to see if I like any of those flavors.

I agree about the clear protein choices are absolutely too sweet. I bought a couple of cases of Isopure RTD clear protein. They have a variety case. Every flavor is tasty! It offers a whopping 40 grams per 20 oz bottle. Don't ask me for other numbers, I can't remember stats. It's been 2 years since I had one.
Premier Protein Clear is disgusting with its excessive sweetness.
The tropical flavor sold at Sam's is just too sweet. While I was in hospital I had Premier's Clear orange flavor. It was much better than tropical flavor.
Sam's is now carrying Protein20. The case of 12 is a variety pack. It's 15 grams in 60 calories. 0 carbs. They taste like weak kool-ade to me.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.
